View Full Version : 3geez 10th Anniversary Unofficial Meet Thread - Eastern PA

Alright, something needs to be done to celebrate the 10th anniversary of 3geez.com, and I'd be happy to get it started. It's time for all of us to get together and put together a meet worthy of the forum that's helped us all so much over the past 10 years.

I know all of you guys in the Northeast and PA are friends and even put together a great meet in NJ last year (I wish I could have gone, but my schedule just didn't mesh). And I know that there are a bunch of folks from farther south who are always up for a drive. So let's get in the mood for some discussion on the Wheres, Whens, Whos, and Hows.

What: 3geez 10th Anniversary meet!
Where: TBD (Eastern PA). By Eastern PA, I literally mean anywhere in Eastern PA. From Scranton to Philly. Let's see which area is most convenient to everyone who is interested and then go from there.
When: Sometime in July or August. Tell us when you're available in the poll!
Who: You! Sign in here!
How: Who cares, just get there. Not all of us have running 3gees at the moment, so however you can get here is great.

Anyone is welcome if this forum has touched you in some way. We'll get the Official thread started once some details and commitments have been hammered out.

I think we have a couple options as far as agenda goes. I was initially thinking of meeting up all day Saturday. Say, meet around 10am-noon somewhere, go for a drive, and then cook out and hang at a park or small pavilion until people start taking off. Or, if folks would like to make a weekend out of it and go camping or add more items to the agenda, that would be great. Let's talk about it!

good idea, not going to happen ever at all if it isnt even discussed... I sure as hell wouldn't be making that one a day trip though:lol:
I am already thinking there is something scheduled close to that date. We will see.

^^ ur thinking of Import Alliance witch is july 17-18. you should just say make it that weekend at the IA meet in TN. We should have a nice 3gee crew out there like we did last year anyways!

87accordlxi
05-31-2010, 07:01 AM
We should probably discuss the date first. It doesn't NEED to be on the 10th, especially since it's kind of short notice for some folks and if pushing it back will include more people, then it's worth talking about.

So let me know your availability. If the 10th isn't ideal, then post a better weekend for you.

carotman
05-31-2010, 09:00 AM
Well any week-end for me would kinda be the same. It's more or less a 7 hour drive. It all depends on where it's going to be.

If you want a better idea of how far to drive, check how far Philly is from you. There are a lot of things within an hour of Philly.

sooo dont read my post then. there is a NATIONAL(meaning ppl from cali, tx, fl, ny, ect) are driving to Tn for a meet. why not have it then? a good amount of 3geez already know about it.

Just sayin.

^^im sure this was read, and dooly noted as the discussion continues, it all is taken into consideration I would think...:)

For conversational purposes, it has been suggested to have meets, such as East Coast for example, to be held around larger car events. This has advantages as well as disadvantages IMO. I guess the location would affect the amount of either enough to make deciding factors surface.

It is not happening this year. I think next year is more likely to happen if some place is not chosen.

In regards to a weekend in July I am pretty open and flexible except for 4th of July weekend.

Nashville is a little farther out of my range than I'd like. Philly is about the farthest I can go for a weekend trip - not that any meet should revolve around me being there. I wanted to make it an East Coast/NE meet because it's fairly close for me, and I saw that some of the NE guys may be thinking about putting something together anyway.

But I agree that we should base the meet around a larger event, even if it's just a trip to the local track. Anyone know of what's around Philly?

Good cheesesteaks? :)

russiankid
06-01-2010, 12:01 PM
Cheesesteaks are definitely a good idea, Tony Lukes anyone? As for the track, we would have to travel to New Jersey for that, and then it would probably be packed due to it being the weekend.

I feel obligated to post this in every meet thread. Ever.

3geez national meet in 2011! Plan ahead and plan early, make it a central location (i know I'm biased and everything lol)

Anywho, i probably wouldn't be able to make it to the east coast again this year.

we should get someone to make window vinyls ahead to time for the 10th anniversary meet

last year was an alright meet , i got to first hand experience a typical 3 geez meet lol, only thing it was really really hot last year for Honda day at e-town.

i think we should set up a poll for what week is the best

I added a poll to see who's available which weekends. I'll need to check, but there are a couple weekends in August where I have a bachelor party to go to and some friends are in town. And the Saab Owner's Convention is on July 24th practically in my backyard.

Not to many people have voted, looks like the last weekend in July is looking good though. I would say someone needs to set a solid date/time/location shortly. I'm not a huge fan of the track meets, I'd rather just get together at a park somewhere for pictures, picnic, and hanging out. Oh and the inevitable break down and repair. I'll probably be brining the 03 Accord this year, the van still needs a tranny.

I voted for the 31st as well, mostly because my August is up in the air because of grad school and friends coming in town to visit. And I agree, I think it would be fun to hang out and picnic for an afternoon, although I can see the merit of basing it around a larger event. My only concern is with a picnic, will we get enough people to come?

Yeah it's looking like the 31st.

I guess that leaves two more questions - what do we want to do, and where do we want to do it.

As for where, I really can't do NJ - it's just too far for me. I'd really like to keep it in Eastern PA and within a 7-7.5 hour drive. I'm not central to this, but I would suggest a picnic somewhere.

I'm not familiar with Ridley creek, but from the website there appear to be plenty of picnic areas - it's just a matter of picking one. I checked on the pavilion rentals, and they're all booked. So we'll have to wing it on a picnic spot to meet up at.

Picnic Area #4 may be the best option because it has the largest parking lot. We should all be able to meet up there.

Yeah, sorry guys. Things have been a bit hectic on my end. I made plans to visit a friend on Martha's Vineyard the weekend of the 24th, but those plans fell through because I'm moving to a new apartment that weekend, which also put a strain on the budget.

My buddy I was going to stay with in Lancaster didn't get back to me about staying at his place until just recently, and I didn't want to go through with the final stages of planning a meet if I wasn't sure if I had a place to stay. I figured it's better to call it off earlier rather than planning something and then not being able to show up in the worst case scenario. That would be shitty.

Glad you guys might be able to put something together later in August.
