Do we have such a thing available? So often newbies (and me--I’m guilty) post questions such as; "what engine can I swap?" or "who makes an adjustable camber kit?" or "who sells struts/springs cuz I want to lower my car?" "Will a brake proportional valve from a 1990 Integra fit?"

These are questions we hear too often. Some members are cool with providing answers and others will respond with a little frustration. A short time ago someone posted all makes and models of cars that had a 4x100 lug pattern. Well that list makes finding wheels in the junkyard and on craigslist much less (financially) stressful.

If we post our junkyard swap (not just engines you know, this for that) info, hard to find stuff, a list off manufacturers, or whatever it could make life easier for those that want to wrench more than they want to search. So from now on when a newbie says "My mom just wrecked her '98 civic, can I swap her motor without modding anything?" you can just refer them to this thread and let them figure it out.

With the newbies busy reading this thread, we will have more time to bash TDurr for street racing:stick:

Heres that 4x100 list:

the prism is 4x100 but you need to machine out some center material on the alloy wheels, or they won't fit over the hub centers. the storm is a direct fit, I have storm steelies on my 86, they have a great old school look with center H caps, in order to install the caps on the back, you will need to remove the grease cap covers on the hubs, they are sealed bearings anyway. I would assume all the geo storm/prism alloys will need the same work to fit our cars.

there were some of those threads , hrmmm
there are a lot of dead links, photos, and dormant threads and it would be usefull for someone to search and file something to fill them back in. updated stuff.
I assume it was thought about around a year ago but just hasnt been worked on much or at all.

If the guys take this seriously, I will gather the info from this thread and condense it so there are no filler posts, just pure unadulterated build facts. Our cars are getting old and are almost obsolete in the parts world; O.E.M. and aftermarket. The only way to keep our cars alive is to keep the knowledge base alive. I will also maintain updates as manufacturers are added and as they drop off and of course any new interchangeabilities. This site made it possible for me to rebuild my car from when I was a kid; this is the least I can do. I could not have done it without this site. Well, I could have but at an enormous expense.

So Come on Fellas, what do you know about your 3G that others could benefit from?

Good thought, maybe we can search the site and add links here on this thread to info already available. That would probably be a good place for everyone to start initially.

this has been brought up time and again but gets buryed. Finding the thread titles will be a challange since nobody names threads specific to the topic.. Maybe search user name of some of the more intellegent posters. I would give examples but in PM only.
I will say that there are some here that can really articulate and explain things as to not lose people in the exchange.
I have a lot of knowledge but Im so ADD I change channels and go all simile vs metaphor on it sometimes so Im not real good at it 100 percent, maybe 62 ? :dunno::lol:see you prolly have no idea what im talking about cus you said post links not reiterate

I wanted to add a post to this thread relating to hatchback quarter windows
you CANNOT swap early hatch quarter windows into the later hatchbacks, the determining factor seems to be if they have standard seatbelts or door mounted seatbelts, generally 86-87 will swap, and 88-89 wil swap, the difference is the early glass has two metal mounting points glued to it, the later models have a single mounting piece with two screws. you can attach a later model quarter window in an emergency, but you won't be able to install the door edge trim, this is a bad security issue, because all you need to break in the car is a screwdriver, two screws and you are in, at least with the trim the screws are hidden, this same interchangeability also relates to the interior trim under the windows, and the door panels, none of it will swap from early hatch to later model hatch

lost only the 86 had different seat belts then 87-89. i can say 87-89 swap but I would not doubt the 86 to be different for the same reason you stated

it might just be the 86-87 hatch then, I know there is an 87 hatch at the yard, the one that was creamed in the side, it has standard belts like an 86, and it's a later 87, when the body changed slightly, a lot of trim stuff became not interchangeable, you can't swap doors, or door trim for one thing, if you put a door edge molding on an 86 door, there will be a large gap, talking about the one under the window, on the same note, all the rear interior trim is interchangeable, including the big plastic pieces in the hatch, the hatch cover, and the window trims, the glass is actually the same, but the mounting pieces are different, I don't see any way to swap mountings either,

I would like to remind people that there are four, possible five different sets of rear mud flaps (I found this out the hard way). 1986-1987 sedans have their own, as well as 1988-1989 sedans, all coupes, all hatches, and possibly all aerodecks. All front mud flaps from all years and body styles are interchangeable due to the same fender design all around.

^^ u just made my head hurt in that last paragraph.

took me over a year to get back to this thread.. so...yeah...
My sedan seats are getting really ratty, they even bled dye from the foam onto my new white shirt {no ac+} really nasty ok..
So I have done seat swaps in many other make vehicles and usually just unbolt the seat tracks themselvs off the seat and adapt the recieving vehicles tracks to the seat. Sometimes I get lucky and they just bolt up fine or I only have to redrill mounting holes but I have had to weld them on.
So If I havent lost anybody yet, what are some seats that yaw have used with success, on an Accord? Really a lot more seats to choose from and later models will be nicer looking than 25 year old scrap yard seats.
Matching the rear seats will be imposssible but not entirely out of the question since there is no unusual shape to these another seat could be made to fit if they are correct in width or close.

Oh, and golf cart wheels are 4x100 but good luck getting them to fit... heh.

My LX has a Volvo muffler, Saturn spoiler, soon to have a Firebird air cleaner, Civic wheels and front speakers!

The mud flaps of an hatch will fit and work on a sedan it has all the holes for the screws I did it for my sedan

Also an Lx-i or Se-i sedan or coupe models rear and front sway bars will fit on Dx's and Lx's models, for rear sway bar the Lx and Dx have all the holes to install the Lx-i or Se-i rear sway bar but idono about the hatches I haven't tried it....

And yet its time for me to hit the junk yard and get different parts and experiment if it fits and works for our 3geez(:

@Roodoo2 --
I've got 3rd gen Prelude seats in mine, adapted with the bottom rails from the stockers. They sit lower, which I like( you may as well,IIRC you are not a height challenged individual) and the drivers seat has lumbar/bolster adjustment. Pulled mine at the JY and they looked near new save for a small cigarette burn in the bottom cushion of the ds, and a small amount of sunfade considering their age.
I literally giggled all the way home as I had expected to pay 60-80$ for the set and nearly fell over when I was only charged 8.99/ea. :)

odd because I have sedan ones, and they don't fit my hatch, the hatch rear bumper is differently shaped then all the other cars

While this may be true (all mud flaps have the same holes / design), but I can guarantee you if you look closer they don't align properly.

2003 Acura TL's (and all of that gen) rear seats fit like a glove in our sedans. You just have to dremel out 3 new slots where the loops line up at the top of the back seat for the TL seat (our seats only have the two loops). You can cut and re weld the loops to fit on our frame, but I thought new slots was the more practical solution. I attached my rear lower with zip ties in the meantime until I decide on how I want to secure the bottom properly. Most likely bolt or weld a small bracket to line up with the new one. The lower is a little wider than ours so it hangs over the bench (frame) a bit. I paid $25 bucks for them at a scrap yard and they look brand new! You can check out pics on my "new car picks" thread.
