indicator switch stays on after turning

usually when after indicating and turning the corner the indicator lever on the combo switch returns back to the middle and the indicating light will turn off whether signalling left or right but mine doesnt I have just recently put in a new combo switch ? so i indicate turn left then straighten the steering wheel the indicator is still on ???

Have you taken anything apart on the steering column lately? If you don't get the covers installed correctly, this can happen. You might need a new combo switch, but start by making sure the covers are installed properly.

There is a part of it called the 'turn signal cancel sleeve' - is that in correctly? I show it on p 18-13 through 18-15 of my service manual 1st edition.
