I have successfully Dropped the 2gee Accord HB.
Pics will be uploaded tomorrow. Updated with Pics. The Left Front Strut still needs some adjusting for the Right Front to drop completely. other than that, I might need to cut a little bit of the springs, but this Is my progress and experimentation so far.

uhm, I got lazy ;O PLUS im still looking for parts for my car. If you guys could help, I'm in need of a Sway Bar for front and back. Roll Cage (if possible) I only have 2 seats at the moment in the car.

2ndGenGuy
09-07-2010, 02:43 PM
Save your money on the roll cage and buy some nice wheels and tires. Or take those Konis and get them revalved to match your spring rates so you don't overheat them and blow out the seals... Koni quoted me $100 each for rebuild/revalve and they can even make them one way or two way externally adjustable for another ~$100-200 respectively. Though, tires are the #1 thing you can do to a car to improve handling. You won't find any cages pre-fabbed for the car anyways.

This is what i got so far...
Heated and compressed the springs
cut perches off also for coil sleeves with wider custom adjustable spring rest.
it is kinda bouncy like chopped springs so i think im going to go with konis and ebay coilovers.
Got the car on the 1st for a old laptop and $100, clean inside and out little work and had it running. Thinking about f22a1 vtec swap in the near future (after the holidays).
Already lowered, jdm yellow high beams, system (older deck to blend in better) 15" sub classic steering wheel, and tinted the windows along with polishing the wheel lip and painting the wheels black.
What do you think!?!

Alright well if i get home before dark ill post some more, this car is really growin on me! I got it from the 1st owner with all records and such. He thought the fuel pump was out... but it was just a grounded wire to the fuel pump!!!
Anyways like i said im lookin to swap it and i want something different, no b20 or d15b or b16/b18 and since f22a1 is from a newer accord i was thinkin that just to keep everything "accord".
Does anyone know what im in for??
(besides axles, motor mounts, ecu/wiring)

i think interior is next... i didnt bother with the system pics, gotta get new tan interior and some recaro tan seats to match the recaro baby seat..
Its going to be fresh. Only probs are since i dropped it my right axle started clickin and my Rpm gauge doesn't work and i can't figure it out. Looks good lowered tho.

Yeah i bought the "restore black" stuff for the bumpers but i've just been busy between work, my boy, tuning my girls d15b (found out it has wrong ecu) insulating my trunk for the beats and figuring out how im going to set up everything without changing stuff too drastically (door panels, interior and trunk).
On the other hand im down for meets!!!
I wanna atleast get a 5 speed swap in ASAP to make them more enjoyable.

that sedan...omg...sex...keep the og engine and install weber before ditching it...f-series are ok... not all that powerfull(i have one so i know lol)... id go with a d-series if i was doing a swap...cheaper to build and cheaper to get... and setting up a hydrolic clutch would suck...d-series is cable clutch just like the 2g...and smaller so fits better

also check to see if the cable came loose for your tach..

Trying to find the best way to lower my 2G honda accord 4door. 2018 and doesn't seem to be any options. All the major manufactures discontinued lowering springs....Any recommendations? Will other year / make / models fit our cars?

I also am looking for something like this. Dedens is asking a great question.

There are no options. You either have to either find some old stock hanging around, or get lucky and find something used. Only other thing is build your own suspension.

That's a pretty sketchy ad. I'd be curious to see what the buyer ends up with. I somehow don't get the feeling they will be the right springs. That manufacturer's website doesn't even work.

Also, I don't get the feeling that anybody here will be happy with a 35mm drop.

I know right cheap parts aren't good and good parts aren't cheap. There's like five different brands to pick from on eBay. Not trying to lead anybody in the wrong direction

I found ATS Springs from CarID: https://www.carid.com/ast-suspension/lowering-springs.html

I emailed and it appears we can get these. They drop about 1.4". Might not be low enough...

dedens
12-02-2018, 11:26 AM
I wonder if AST would custom make us a set of coils...2" drop? I'll reach out to them....

dedens
12-02-2018, 11:35 AM
Just heard back from spring works in Cali. They will make me a set of custom coil springs with a drop from OE 2 or 2.5" for $775.00. I have to send them a front and rear OE so they can use as a template. Price is steep. Thoughts? How low should I go if I decide to do this? I don't want to blow the struts as they are almost impossible to get.

You can potentially get a complete coil over set for 1k. BC will do custom, Gaz does 2gen Preludes, and I think Ceika does too, but their site is down. The rear on 2gen Accords and Preludes is the same.

dedens
12-03-2018, 06:54 PM
I think I contacted BC and they said they need the car...I'll check again. I'd love a custom set of coilovers. Looks like we have the rears covered just need fronts....

Your car looks great. That's the look I am attempting to get.

dedens

I reached out to both company's. I will keep you posted.

12-03-2018, 07:30 PM
I mailed BC last night too since your post reminded me, but no reply today. I could potentially order shocks for another car, just with custom rates and valving, but I don't know if they would do it (the rears are similar to early BMW, at least so far as Koni inserts go)

dedens
12-05-2018, 02:13 AM
Not doubting but just clarifying...The rear strut setup is the same on the 2 gen accord (1983 in my case) and the 2nd gen lude (83-87)? Gaz replied that they couldn't verify the rear struts were the same. I received replies back from Gaz and Ceika. Both asked for photos of the front / rear suspension. I replied with the Honda Parts now diagrams, photos of the struts and hubs (F/R) and photos of my car. We will see where this goes.

There may be diffs in the earlier couple years, but the 84/5 are def the same. In fact my tokico blues are for the accord because the brake line bracket was never right. And I know the Koni inserts use the same part.
I just don't have first hand knowledge of the 82/3. I may have an old helms of those years at work.

Have you checked Rockauto? They are really good about giving dimensions.

Off topic question but do 15x8 wheels fit in a 85 Accord SEI

Dr_Snooz

With or without rub?

2ndGenGuy
01-23-2019, 04:28 PM
I'm running the 2g Prelude Koni inserts in the back of my 84. They fit the 82-83 just fine as well. The difference is probably in the valving, as the Accords always were quite a bit softer than the Preludes.

I would not bother getting custom springs made. Get some coilover sleeves, and then you can run standard size race springs. Those kind of springs can usually be purchased in damn near any spring-rate and length and they're not too expensive either.

Also, if you look around the internet a bit, you'll find that people overseas run front suspension from cars like the 240SX, Corolla, MR2, etc. You can at least use the tops hats from those by re-drilling the shock towers. The big difference between most MacStruts on the Accords vs those cars is how the shock bottom mounts to the knuckle. I imagine you could cut off the brackets, and make some kind of sleeve to fit them in the Accord knuckle.

Also if you have the dimensions of the Koni inserts for these cars, I bet you could find something else that fits. I would even try to find an insert that is a bit shorter, it just means cutting off the top of the OE strut housing a bit more.
