So I came across this 87 hatch for sale on craigslist, was wondering what you guys thought about it. worth the price? exterior pics seem pretty clean, is it possibly a member's ride? im thinking about this one...

i would inspect it in person before making any decisions, especially the quality of the paint job. it looks like it has seen better days though

i think its bit too much but i know how rare 3gees are over there...in one week i only saw 3-4

Its to much for a 3gee but it has after market rims and cd player so maybe that's why he is selling for that much but I would inspect it in person

1400 for a car with a bent rad support/hood/fender chipped bumper paint and broken corner light?!?!?!?

The color will also be hard to match.

I would give him 800

i would give him less than than 800 for that car, as it ive been looking around and our cars go for around 1k to 1700 on average for a car that is in perfect working order and with the typical rust. If the rad support is bent up your looking at a few things that could be wrong. First off the hood, fender, bumper support, radiator could be easily damaged from what i saw. I would also think about the surrounding area near the rad support and if it split the unibody seams near the front (from my experience it doesn't take much on these cars a 15mph hit can be enough) i would personally give the guy 500 for the car.

and to carotman's response about the paint , it most likely be a pain to match it , even of the owner has a paint swatch/code

well the paint and smoked tails are not really doing it for me, and a bit worried about the front end damage, but hatch's are so rare around here. in the past 6 months this is the second one I have seen for sale.

You don't need to share with the buyer that you're specifically looking for a hatch. If he sees you really, really want it, he may not budge on price, knowing you are hot-to-trot.

I think the aforementioned $800 offer suggestion is right on.

wayyyy to much for a crashed up car like that. my 5th gen had almost the same damage so i offerd 350 and they took it, dont be afraid to lowball. i highly doubt anyone else will buy it at that price, if it sits for long enough he will start comeing down in price

you guys are right, I'll wait for it, hopefully it will sit for a while and the guy will drop the price. then I will take a look at it.

i would still wait a bit for another hatch thaty isnt damages, waiting does suck but it pays off in the end. I would still offer the guy 350-500 for the car based on damage and repairs for it. There are alot of people who own 3geez but they really don't know how much some of the repairs are. I looked into a hatch here in NJ about a month ago and the auto trans was shot , the car supposally has 80k on it. the owner was telling me it should be about 200 to replace the auto trans.... yah thats BS
