I'm John from NJ. I've been theJunkman on G2iC for the last 10 years and this is my first honda that isn't a parts car (aside from the DA integra I drove for 4 years). Recently picked up an '88 LX 4 door accord just to get me though the summer. When I find another car, I will be parting it out (got it for $300 no worth trying to resell it as it won't pass inspection) . Thanks

the accord is replacing a 1994 tercel that I bought for $600 and ran for 15 months. The tercel is replacing a volvo 740 that I paid $700 for and had for 6 months. I use my tax return or savings to buy a car and I run it until it dies.

The head gasket and a/c went on the tercel, I needed to either shell out around $1500 for repairs, or buy another car. Got the accord on CL for $600 and sold the tercel for $300. The inspection is up on the accord in december but I will most likely part it out before then.

Damn dude you go through cars like I go through shoes. I bought a 1998 pontiac transport in 2005 for $750.00 and Im still driving it. Best money Ive ever spent.

Damn dude you go through cars like I go through shoes.

I'm 28, I started driving in 1998, I got my first car in july of 1999 (had to save enough for not only the car but stupid high NJ insurance premiums).

Here's a quick list of the cars I've had

July 21st 1999 to March 2003

1990 Acura Integra GS coupe. Every option aside from power locks and a cd player (and before someone says "OH OH no power locks! IT means its an LS!!" I've parted out 5 2nd gen integras and have removed parts from countless da integras in 4 states, aside from the 92-93 GS-R package, pretty much every option can be found on every trim level of 2nd gen integra. RS 4 door with factory a moon roof, LS coupe with NO a/c from the factory, gs coupes with power windows and manual locks, I've seen it all.) Paid $5000 and drove it into the ground. Had an intake , header, and exhaust and played with nitrous long before the FF movies ruined the scene. It was still slow. Bought it with 81k miles and it died at around 140k miles. Sold for $500 to some dude on ebay, didn't have the heart to part it out.

March 2003 to March 2005

1998 Ford Escort SE 4 door. Job at the time gave me $100 car allowance a month. This car was $119/month. Insurance was $239/ month (I have a perfect record and have always). So for $248 I had a car that got me to and from work and didn't die every other day like the integra. Car was $5,000. Started at 30k miles ended at 79k miles. Sold back to the dealer for $2k

March 2005- March 2008.

2001 Ford Contour. Sold the escort back to the dealer I bought it from for $2k, I only owed $1800 on it. My grandmother gave up driving so I took her 2001 ford contour (21k miles on the car when I got it!). She was going to give it to my 17 year old cousin who said "wow its an old lady car!" I said "shit yeah free car!" and scooped it up. Put a little system in it (JVC cd/mp3 head unit, Sirius radio, 150watt speakers in the door so I could hear Howard Stern loud and clear) Drove the car from NJ to Dallas where I lived for a year. Cooked the fuel pump coming home from an G2ic meet in Oklahoma on the side of I-35. Car died in NJ 3 years later at 75k miles (ECU went bad and took the electrical system with it) Shitty 4 cylinder engine that can be found in a few other fords. Sold for $300 to some guy on CL.

March 2008- March 2009 1990 Volvo 740

My other grandparents just happened to be trying to sell this car on CL for $4500. It had a 130k miles on it and was a huge rwd boat of a car. I gave them $1600 and took it over. Car was great in the summer and decent in fall but completely useless in even a light 1/8th dusting of snow. Battery welded itself to the "frame" one time. Took me 8 hours to remove the battery and rebuild the 57 ring terminals that seem to be attached to the positive terminal. Dumped it after I got a flat, jacked it up to change the tire and the jack failed dropping the car on the rear disc brake. Had to call AAA to come lift it so I could swap the tire. Sold to a guy from PA on CL for $100.

March 2009 to June 2010 1994 Toyota Tercel

Picked this car up for $600 with 161k miles on it. 4 door . auto. cold a/c. Threw in a pioneer head unit and 100 watt speakers in the front doors. Replaced the PCV valve, the exhaust down pipe studs, the upper rad hose and the air filter. Ran like a top but ate coolant and oil (blown head gasket?) Ran this car hard (worked 20 minutes from home but oncall pretty much 24 hours a day for 5 days a week sometimes 11 days in a row). By the end I was left with a non working a/c , flintstone brakes, and it needed 3 tires bad. Sold it on CL for $300.

June 2010- Present

1988 Honda Accord LX. 4 door, auto , ice cold a/c , no radio. inspection is up in a few months and I just want to drive it until then. It was sideswiped on the driver side so I had to put a junkyard power mirror on it. Replaced the air filter and plug wires. Previous owner gave me an MSD blaster 2 coil and hold down bracket still in their packages but I am a little iffy about installing them Got the car with 108k miles and 21 years worth of service reocrds. It would need alot of work if I planned on keeping it but I don;t. I would like to part it out and sell the parts here to people who would actually use them to keep their cars alive. Paid $600 for it.
