Was headed up to Dallas when my car broke down yesterday.... dont quite know whats wrong with it, sounds like it maybe an engine rod or bearing.... Car still starts and runs, but kills its self after about 6 seconds. Dunno what to do, i am gonna pull the motor out soon and dismantle it.

Well, the car doesnt stay running for more than about 8 seconds now, and it sounds like there is a house party coming from the engine block, to say there is alot of noise, but no ping ping ping of a rod. I think it maybe a bearing... i need to pull the oild pan off and see whats going on with it. But i found a 89 prelude with 4 wheel steering i am in the process of buying

have fun trying to keep the lude on the road, it's about impossible to get parts for the 4WS system. you would do better putting an add in the classifieds here and buying an engine from someone, there is always someone with one.

well i could get a motor from the local junk yard for $200, plus a $100 core, and i would have to pull it and test it (which i have never done). Or i could go to the machine shop in Dallas, and get a rebuilt block for $300 ish.

if you look on here, often people have good blocks, you are much more likely to get a good one here, then other places, also try prelude power, second gen prelude is also the a20

just get the rebuilt block for 300...have them hone it out if the walls are good, new rings and bearings and you should be set for another 200k

Depends on the model year. If you're getting the one with the simple, reliable, mechanical 4WS, then I'd say go for it. Faster through the slalom than a Porsche? I'd buy that. I may some day just for giggles. It was a beautiful car.

If you're getting the one with the electronic, prone-to-break version, then yeah, skip it.

Good news everybody, after much trolling of craigslist, i found a mislabeled a20 for sale with a tranny for $200, but it had been there for almost 2 months so i sent an email anyways. As it turns out the owner still had it and only wants $100 for both, i just gotta get down there and get it

well, the oil pump went out, and caused engine oil starvation... got to check and see how much damage was done. The motor did not seize as the starter will still turn the motor over and the motor turns on and dies after about 4-6 seconds
