Thanks to Itzdave who found this for me, yet another very cool aircraft part. This is an emergency light from an EP-3 ARIES II aircraft, which is a military aircraft. I had been figuring out a way to mount a flashlight anyway, and he had gotten me one of these. it mounts to a bracket which I need to make, when you pull the handle it releases and comes on, it also has a regular on off switch, and it has a G switch. If I ever get in a wreck it will automatically come on. The post office handled it so roughly, it was on when it got here. It's supposed to charge from the bracket, but the aircraft system was 24 volt, it takes two standard C cells, so no point in setting up a charger, Duracell will work just fine. I think I'll mount it on the side of the center console.

I considered that, but I have the entire aircraft themed center console, I also have two map lights in the bottom of the rear view mirror, and two that are built into the dome light, no point in adding more to the roof.

I didn't expect this one, I actually was thinking on those plastic covers on either side of the car, next to the drivers foot well, mine are already upholstered, convenient place to put this, this is a very functional item, plus it's military grade. if you have a breakdown or something, you grab the handle, pull it and the light comes with you. very good item to have at night, plus it's cool looking

Ok the bracket is made, I've never seen the original but it probably looks like this one. one end of the light slides up into a recess, the other end, once it's in place, you lock the handle in the closed position, and it rotates cam locks at the sides that engage pins. when you pull the handle, the light comes on, and the cam locks disengage from the pins, allowing the light to slide out.

That could defiantly come in handy. It defiantly beats having a a flash light shoved in the glove box or in the trunk that likes to slide around on hard turns . Once the G switch has been triggered does it shut off on its own, or how do you turn it off?

if the G switch gets triggered that's probably the least of your worries, it's designed to trigger in a crash like an airbag
