View Full Version : Honda Prelude
or poolude as some may call it. i just got one this morning for $200. we need another car here since my mum wrote her accord off. so here's another build thread. now to the car
the good:
new battery
couple new tyres
speakers
overall body condition
new shocks (apparently)
everything works (other than the motor)
the price i suppose
rego on hold
the bad:
it's a 4th gen
snapped cam belt
possibly bent valves
rust on the roof
faded/peeling paint
onto the pics:

a snapped belt sucks :(
You can always install a SOHC in there if you decide to go the cheap route.
Anyway, I guess F22Bs should be readily available in NZ.

Nice find for 200 bones! While you have the engine out you plan on doing a manual tranny swap too?

Anyway, I guess F22Bs should be readily available in NZ.yeah i got a totaled 5g accord with a mint f22b1 in it that's gonna donate its motor. partly why i bought this car lol

thanks, i would, but i don't have any manual conversion to stick into it. but if i did, i'd stick it into a 4g accord i has hehe

so it wont be long till this drives haha sweet
indeed. i hope it will be drivable by thursday, then i can take it to my mate to weld up the rust on teh sunroof. that f22 from the accord was probably the most difficult motor i've ever removed. due to hoist failure & it not wanting to come out easy like it should. and that's why there's new dents & holes in the car

i tried some accord hubs, that was fail. they also add a couple degrees negative camber, or would that be take away a couple degrees of camber.

wooo, glad to see it's got a heart again
this car is really annoying me right now. electrical failures everywhere, yesterday the voltage regulator decided to pretty much blow everything in the car up, the gauges dont light up properly now, i think it blew the p0a ecu that goes with this motor as well. it was running mint on the p39 ecu yesterday, but now its running like it's on 3 cylinders. grrrr
in other news, check out my cool power steering bracket i made. i cut up one of those things that go over the drive plate on autos
http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/8980/img0413large.jpg
then test this nissan gearbox bracket for size
http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/2992/img0415large.jpg
and cut down to fit
http://img541.imageshack.us/img541/3663/img0418large.jpg
tension is perfect, pulley lines up good with the crank & all is nice and solid. power steering for the win!
Nice work,

aarrrrrrrr nuh
the steering wheel is indeed ugly, i was thinking of sticking a accord one on there when i was cleaning the car out lol. i have more electrical failure, alternator is munting again. took it for a drive, was going mint, then lights and stuff went dim, and left me stranded on the road. had to run 5km to get help cause my phone decided it didnt want to remember anyones numbers stored :thumbdn: i could smell some electrical failure in the alternator when it was running, so i guess tomorrow i'll get a known good working alternator and put its internals into this one. better work!!!
good news though i got the exhaust welded up. heres pics
this is why I had to swap down pipes
http://img576.imageshack.us/img576/3788/img0410large.jpg
this is why i couldn't just swap the whole exhaust
http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/2971/img0411large.jpg
so i cut off this thing here
http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/1333/img0445large.jpg
welded it on to the prelude exhaust

cool! i might require some electrical parts as i blew up almost everything in tjhis car woops. anyways some good news, i swapped in some alternator internals from a known good b20a alternator & it's working fine now. so went to take it for a wof to see what it will fail on, next thing i know they're scraping the old sticker off and putting a new one on W0oOTT so now after getting some stupid expensive rego, the car is now legal & road worthy again. wof guy just said to replace the sunroof & paint the pillars

matt, you dont need the symbol to tell what it is, notice it says r24 or r26 or something by it, r means resistor. i guess u will need to figure out what the resistance of said resistor used to be so u can fix it haha
lol yeah i noticed that like this morning.. any idea how i can find out what it was? i have also fixed the ecu which broked before, and found the right gearbox computer for the gearbox, so now its like normal again, just have a stupid iat sensor error which wont go away.
ok man just tell me what you need when you need it... but in advance because ill need time to pull it out and obviously shipping wont be there to quickly

so i planned on taking it today, but that couldnt happen till my mate finished work, and we woulda been out there failing right now. so i rang up the scrappy earlier today and told them to take my blue accord away (to make room for the poolude), sweet as. i wasnt home when the guy came to get the car, but got a message saying he will be back in about 15 mins.. so i got home, and then he shows up, with the poolude on the back of his truck.. i ask if i could have it, he said no cause he would get in trouble going back to work with only 1 car instead of 2.. so i told him he could have my crx if i can have the poolude.. hes like yeah okay. blah blah blah heres some pics

Only just caught this thread bud. I'm a 4th gen lude fan so it stood out to me ;)
Great effort! I know most wouldn't have bothered with it in the state that you got it in. Big shame about the MOT fail :( Are you gonna fix it? May pop up a few pics of my 4th if I get a chance and no one minds.
Edit: Just scrolled to the top to see there's a Prelude section I didn't even know about on here!
lol yup i'm gonna fix it, don't have a choice really, don't have anything else to drive atm :(
okay so tomorrow im gonna spend money to get this thing legal again. after that im sticking a for sale sign in it :) since these cars go for around $2000 here in similar condition, im gonna try $1800 ono
