Not a bad start with a bit of work that will clean up great, where are you located?

I'm in Virginia. I really don't know where to start with fixing it up. Don't know much about cars.

Ahh, definitely ask around here though lot's of friendly people will be willing to help you out as long as you're willing to learn :) I'd gladly help you out but I don't even have a car myself or my license yet for that matter.

haha, I hate my states law with the you can't get your license until 6-months after you get your permit. :banghead: they're easy cars to learn on though

i would have someone address the rust before anything. if left unmanaged it will slowly eat the car. it doesn't have very many miles for it's age. i would just give it a good once over, check the belts, hoses, inspect the suspension components, listen for any squeeks, rattles, clunks, etc.

Nice Hatch!
I too purchased an 87 hatch. The car started in colorado so my quarters are just as bad if not worse. Then the car was moved out to AZ years before I got it so the paint is about faded off now. If you think this car will be an investment you will keep through school plan on putting $500.00 for you quarters. For a quick fix mask and epoxy primer your rusted areas. I suggest finding primer that will not hold any moisture.

its the same here but if you take a full driving school class which is like 525$ you only have to wait 4 months

At least you guys can do that, I was motivated to get my permit and then that law came into effect just as I was about to go take my test and I still haven't gotten my permit there was a really clean lx-i coupe for sale at that time too :(

Well. The whole steering assembly had to be replaced. He said it wouldn't have passed inspection. 500 dollars gone already :(

defenetly worth it, right?! Damn, if i had a hatch i'd be dumping all my cash into it.. like im doing with the sedan?! But i love the hatches, and i'd have to be manual, so i'd enjoy driving it that much more. Have fun with that thing, man.

Hey guys, I recently installed a new head unit and my problem is. its not a snug fit. It is just sitting there. Walmart doesnt have a dash install kit for my model. What should i do?

Go to a stereo/electronics store, or try online. I think even through brands, they're fairly universal.

every 3g radio ive installed ( uncountable number) fit perfect, your using the sleeve that came with the deck right? and bent all the pins down?

Well this radio was actually my cousin's old radio. So all he gave me was the radio. I don't think he had a sleeve. Do you know of any really cheap radios that have auxiliary inputs because thats all i need.
