I drank the K&N Kool Aid, and 3 or so years ago put in the air filter. I've washed and re-oiled it once. After i put it in, it ....seemed... to make a difference, but maybe it was in my mind. K&N claims a bump of a few HP.
Last year I started sending off my oil for analysis. It came back with elevated levels of silicon, e.g. more dirt than called for. I then did some research, and finally determined that I'd rather have more filtering than the slightly different sound and maybe a couple of HP.
So out came the filter. If anyone wants it, I'll pack up all the stuff and send it off to you for he cost of shipping. I seem to recall the whole start-up was $50 or so.
It is the fuelie filter btw. Carbs need not apply.
