Hi folks,
My 93 Integra engine is blowing copious amount of smoke and using an ungodly amount of oil. I torn the engine apart and took some measurements of the cylinder. I measured twice the top, middle and bottom of the cylinder with an inside caliper. Below is the results. Haynes show 3.19 to be the spec value. I highlighted my measures that are above 3.19. Highest is 3.214. Is this engine still serviceable?

Cylinder # 1
Bottom: 3.19, 3.19
Mid: 3.19, 3.19
Top: 3.18, 3.19

Cylinder #2
Bottom: 3.18, 3.19
Mid: 3.20, 3.19
Top: 3.214, 3.19

Cylinder # 3
Bottom: 3.19, 3.19
Mid: 3.19, 3.20
Top: 3.18, 3.20

Cylinder # 4
Bottom: 3.19, 3.19
Mid: 3.19, 3.19
Top: 3.18, 3.19

with number 2 being 0.024 overspec, i'd bore to the oversize over that .
take the block to an engine builder and get them to measure it again just to have a second opinion.
if you do need a bore out, the engine guy prob wont charge to measure it if you get the work there.

I went to one machine shop, and was quoted a $1100 price for rebuilding the short block. Is that reasonable?

depends what they are going to do.
for that i'd want nice new honda pistons and rings and block bored to suit, the crank machined, block line bored and bearings to suit, decked and fully assembled with new saels and gaskets just ready to stick the head on.
the machining is the most expensive part. takes a bit of time setting the machines up and machining the bits, measuring everything and re machining the bits that need it and re measuring again . assembling a short block wouldnt take more than an hour .
