Are all of them out, or just a certain section (HUD/climate control)?

I've seem to run into this problem. The back-lighting for the gauges and the climate control hasn't worked since I've had the car, except for 1 night. That night, I took the panel off the top of the gauge cluster, took a couple of the light bulbs out and put them back, and the lights were working, the dimmer switch functioned properly, at least until I went across some railroad tracks. They flickered, went out and haven't been able to get them back on since.

Also, how in the world do you take the gauge cluster out of the car?

Sounds like a loose wire. To remove the cluster, pop the plastic cover off the top of the dash above the cluster. There are two screws. Remove the switches from the dash below the cluster. There are four more screws. Easy as pie.

Welcome to the board!

Had the dash apart tonight. I'm heavily leaning towards bad dimmer switch. Took a wire tester to the circuits for the lights, which seemed to be getting juice (tester would light when grounded to the frame). Tested both wire, both lit when tested as said, but when tested together.....nothing.

Seems its might be the Illumination controller attached to the dash panel under the steering column that was my problem. Opened it up and found the copper on the circuit board peeling off. Ordered one off ebay. Once it gets here I guess I'll know for sure.
