in my b20a gearbox, I installed the intermediate shaft (with no troubles at all IIRC) about 2 years ago, drove all good with no problems. now the gearbox is out of the car, the shaft is now stuck in the gearbox and wont come out. i tried prying it out, and then hammering (to the point where i've started damaging the part that bolts to the block), it came out probably a maximum of about 5mm, but not any further. it seems completely stuck. why? and how can I get it out?

Maybe the circlip is stuck in there.

Can you see through the other side?

nah, that big pin is in the way. open diff for the lose :thumbdn: I didn't know they had circlips. any ideas on how to get it unstuck?

Hmm, I checked some pictures and I'm not even sure anymore if they have a circlip or not...

Have you tried to push it back in? Maybe the diff bearings are a bit loose and the shaft comes out crooked.

Tried any penetrating oil on the splines to see if that will help break them free? Maybe it's just corroded together? Or is it stuck all the way in to where you can't get past the shaft seals?

didnt actually think of that, i'll go whore it in some CRC and try again. I'll report back (Y)

Any way to insert something in through the other side and bang on it? You might have to disassemble the trans in place. *Groan*

indeed. i would like to use it since none of it's damaged, but that stuck half shaft means i has to use my diff that has already blown a pin lol

Can you heat it up? If not, you might be looking for a junkyard replacement.

I was going to say just leave it next to the lava lamp for the energy of the universe to permit the exodus.
