I like how you can just find an Aerodeck.

I did some (a lot of) searching, just bought it today, the car is still in Germany.
I can tell you, I found 2 nice ones, just bought 1, so, there is a nice Aerodeck left.
The one that I dind't buy is been standing in a showroom in Holland for the last 10 years and is RUST FREE.

See: http://www.autotrader.nl/klassieker/kopen/Honda/Accord/2W6M9/fotos.htm?sortering=DEFAULT&merken=Honda&modellen=Accord&paginaNummer=1&total=3&pos=3&fotoIndex=0

This one has no injection engine, and only electric mirrors. So I bought the German one.

Man it looks sharp! Congrats, and keep it nice

What engine is under the hood? a B20?

I think it's a A20A4. (europe)
It's a 2.0 injection 12 Valve.
I did not make the pictures, and the car is not in Holland yet.
Better pics will follow for sure.

Edit: its a A20A3

Great Aerodeck.. :D
How much do you pay for it (if I may ask)??

Did you also see this one (http://auto.marktplaats.nl/honda/357130348-honda-accord-2-0-i-aerod-ex-alb-ps-sr-b6-1987-unieke-auto.html)??

I am on Aerodeck number 6 but have never managed to get one with leather seats.Look after it.

It's my 3rd Aerodeck, they all had leather. In holland this was not a option, but all Aerodecks I import from Germany. They have better tax rules on cars witch makes them a lot cheaper. So more money left for them to spend on nice options.

For the next few years nothing big is gonna happen, only wheels, drop and audio. Some small rust repair.
When I finish renovating my house (it will take a few years, and not becouse the house is so big, its not, but spare time is hard to find), I build a garage, and then the total reconstruction will take place.
Like it to have a clean look, 200 hp (a intergra Type-R engine maybe?), and be better than new, and never leave me to my death. ;)

The first thing i did was rip out the cd player, no Lenco in my Honda
There had never been smoked in this car, until yesterday, it was great to put out my smoke in a new 21 year old ashtray.
First, the car needs Dutch license plates.
There for the Dutch civil road service wil take a inspection, and i pay the disposal contribution, and the remaining tax difference for Germany-Netherlands. The 'new' plates wil be mine in a few days after that.
In holland plates remain with the car, and are made up as a code for when it is put on Dutch roads. So, old car, new plates, import.
Found out that the electric antenna does not work, and the interior and door lights do not go on when door is open, door open is also not shown in the dash display. Interior light works fine when turn on manually. Trunk light, and display when open, also works fine.

Congrats on your purchase, looks great! The interior looks even newer than mine when I bought my Aerodeck! And the red color is really fresh too... Seems like this car was worth the 1300 km drive. ;)

The original switch is for the electric antenna (Charlie), the other one (not original) is done by pervious owner, there was a extra horn.

Cruise control is not realy useful overhere. Standing still most of the time, and the rest is a lot of corners and speedbumps.
At night, maby....
Dude, you can have the steering wheel cover. Where do i send it to?

The leather on the steering wheel is tied to it with a lace (string?), it came original from Honda. I don't like it, and its Charlies now.

Today got up at 5 again, now to return the autotransporter, my god this thing is fast. 2.8 Diesel with 6 gears. Saturday on the way back from Germany i did 100 miles/h with the accord on the back. No problem. Bit scary, though. Empty it's faster than most normal cars. Dont think German highway is paradise, lot of roadwork, traffic jam, speedlimits and cams, only small part of das Auto Bahn is speedlimit free. But its fun, driving 100 m/h in a small truck when idiots in big Audi's en BMW's pas you by with 60 more.
Got back home in my Civic 4 hours later to pick up my work van (VW transporter, owned by the boss) and drive to work.
Back home at 6, just enough time to take the 17" of the Civic and put them on the Accord before dark fals in.

It sucks to work 5 days a week, and have a car hobby and no garage.:squint:

I like the wheels, but not on this straight lined Aerodeck, and with the low tires the car looks lifted. Accord SUV or something.
That needs to change fast to. To dark to take pics. So, wheel on the Civic
Btw: saw that the back diskbrakes on the Accord are brand new.

Thanks! Looked at the vents, don't know. Will find out later, when i take it appart.

Sometimes im a big ass. Showed the car to a friend, only opend the right door. And locked it after, with the door button, yes, keys inside. Only 1? No, all 4!
Didn't find out til nex day.
Opened inside of my Civic door to learn, and make a model for a tool.
It took 1 hour to make it right, but opened the Accord door in 30 sec. without damage.
Have a universal Honda key now, 18 inch long.

Hee, thanx. I have been looking at your cars before. Searched the forum for Aerodecks. Not much there sadly. Like your Exclusive Edition.
I was thinking of making mine black in the future, but after seeing yours i'm not sure anymore. Don't get me wrong, like the black, but the thing i like the best about the Aerodeck is how the window and roof line come together at the back. The black window frame is not standing out when the car is black to, so the line is less visible.
Maybe i make it matt anthracite, or something.
Or just put on the original red again. Who knows.

I have the exact same factory leather wrapped steering wheel. I'm kind of surprised they did leather seats over there but no matching leather door or side panels. Leather in general doesn't look fantastic after 22 years without good maintenance. Overall the interior condition on that Aerodeck is quite peachy!!!

Made some pics with the wheels of my Civic.
Like i said, looks lifted, and these are not the right wheels for this car. Like it to be 17" straight 10 spoke or something.
It has to do for now, I will not drive around with wheelcaps. And no money for new ones.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/av3v4du1olo59j2/IMG_2709.JPG?raw=1

The ET of these rims is a bit high. 38. So the don't go into the fenders.
But I don't care, want my drop to fill the wheel gap, not more.
Don't like it when a bit of wheel is not visible, or when it is not standing up straight.

Trying to imagine how great your car looks with these rims when it's dropped! And guess what, your car looks really great! ;)
BTW, I think you mean the ET of these rims is a bit too low (instead of too high), since a lower ET means the rims are more to the outside and a higher ET is more to the inside of the car. Oh, and when you want the car to be lowered just enough to fill the wheel gap, you might want my lowering springs (http://www.3geez.com/forum/showthread.php?t=73644)! :deal:

That explains the ET value at the rims in the folder.

That is one hot a-deck! :)

Also what has happened to the leather steering wheel, I have one too but yours looks strange. It's like the leather has been ripped off and very poorly been stitched back on. On mine the leather sits flush around the wheel, there's no gaps or string showing like on yours, just the stitching at the seam.

It was original with gaps. The string hold it together. I think it was the cow boy version. Was the same in one of my pervious Aerodecks. Removed it on the first day.

Nice clean Aerodeck!
I had same problem with rear wheel arches. When it became worse, I asked pro to repair them with using patch panel - greatdane had also done the same repair by himself last year, I believe, on his aerodeck.

I admire your leather seat in such a great condition.

I agree with your choice of wheels - I like the original wheel caps design very much.

Hi, probably I was completely drunk I can't remember what I have agreed with  May be I thought the original steel wheel with original cap looking pretty nice as if it just pop up from Honda catalog. I am not sure what you mean by "My current wheels being the wrong ones" - actually the wheels they came with your car are the original ones (I am sure you know that...) and I personally think they look very nice. It shame that Honda didn't make alloy wheel with that design. I don't mean to hijack your thread but this is mine with the original wheels on.

http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_images/1/3136/1861/7838430251_large.jpg

Thanks for your complement - nice to know that my aerodeck didn't make you think not to buy aerodeck haha.

I think the catalog image you are showing is for Civic range. The OEM wheel for our car has +45mm off set. Some Mugen wheels are +38mm but I recommend to stick with +45mm, at least +40mm or your steering wheel will not sit straight and also the steering will become very sensitive to the road surface.

Below is a scan of Japanese Accord Accessory catalog. The bottom row, middle one is the wheel from the red aerodeck picture I attached earlier. In UK this wheel came with 4dr B20A model as standard.
http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_images/1/3136/1861/7838430068_large.jpg

non OEM wheels I like;
Hartge type 16inch
http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_images/1/3136/1861/7838430036_large.jpg

6 spoke 16inch
http://groups.google.co.jp/group/aerodeck/web/penguin-044.jpg?display=thumb&width=420&height=420

But preference of wheel is really up to the owner. In 3geez, there are quite few threads about choosing right alloy wheel so you may want to find those thread in search.

very nice aerodeck. I always considered them a hatchback with an extended roof line lol. as a word of advice, being this car is mint and no visible rust at all is to get a product called honey coat. Its a waxy spray, GOOD body techs use this when a door skin or rocker panel is replaced. I personally spray this in the lower door, rocker and inside the rear wheel wells. I noticed an issue with the way Honda attaches the rear 1/4's together, i believe this is the reason why almost all 3geez have rear arch rot. Again, good find

charliekuney
10-26-2010, 03:33 PM
I always considered them a hatchback with an extended roof line lol.

There are two types of hatchback: Fastback (like the UDSM hatch), and regular/[station] wagon style (like the aerodeck).

So, technically most vans and SUV's are hatches.

;)

in the case of our aerodecks and hatchbacks wouldn't they be considered glass backs? I just meant if u stretched the upper roof line of a hatchback id practically be an aerodeck. Even the tail lights are very similar

Some Mugen wheels are +38mm but I recommend to stick with +45mm, at least +40mm or your steering wheel will not sit straight and also the steering will become very sensitive to the road surface.

Some 10 years ago i owned 2 Aerodecks, so i'm not new to it.

Thanx for the info, and i like pictures!!
Nice to know that 45 is OEM, and that Mugen uses the same value as on my current rims, the ones that came of my (ex)Civic. (the 'wrong ones')
I'm sure 45 is a better drive, but i will stick with 17 inch 38 if it fits after my drop.
I like original. But not on the wheels. But like you said "preference of wheel is really up to the owner".

Btw: jealous of your cup holder.

very nice aerodeck.

Mine has rust on the wheel arches as wel. See #21
It needs some attention, and i will send it to a polish shop after the drop.
I like to see the Aerodeck as a shooting break, or as a 3 door stationwagon...

Had the test for Dutch licence plates today and passed!
Was nice to drive it for the first time, only did 30 meters before.
Drives great! Did not drive it to fast, hand writen white licence plates (only usable for 1 day and only in a straight line to the test station and back) jump out between all the yellow, and was not waiting for a police control.
Only did 160 km/h (100 m/h) for a short bit, but its al good.
Very nice ROARRR! (its a sound)
Could use some new front diskbrakes tough.
In a few days papers will be here and plates can be made.
To make it full legal, i need to take a APK test.
That's ones a year to see if the car is safe.
Have an appointment at the Honda dealer for friday.

So now its back underneath the car port, waiting for the plates.

At least it's getting there! If I were you I couldn't wait till it passed the APK! ;)
But when everything is alright you should be able to drive it without fear for police this friday... :)

Hey Fedor, how are things going with the papers/plates/APK? :)
Cruisin' around already?

Hey man, thanx for the intrest.
Papers and plates are okay. Test last monday, and papers in the mailbox on friday, plates made, and on the car a few hours later. :D It's a Dutch car now.

No APK (MOT?) yet. At the RDW (test station) the chap found a torn rubber;)
right away, we canceled the APK, which i will take later at my home town Honda dealer.

The cars interior is partly out right now.. So, no driving around.
I have cleaned the 4 drains of the sunroof.
All where blocked. The sunroof was taped off. The tape i removed on the fist day, so action was necessary.
A lot needs to come out for removing the headliner.
But it's done. Now the car can be parked in rain. (Dutch weather sucks 8 months of the year (for other readers))
First will clean the headliner before putting it all back together, and need daylight for that.
So til sunday the car is back in its spot underneath the carport, don't think it will do mutch km's next months, it only likes nice weather.

Currently there is no audio in my car. Listen to the sound of the engine is nice, but not for to long.
I like to have it all compete and put it in the car all at ones.
This is where i'm at so far:

The headset.

Pioneer DEH-P9800BT

Have it for 3 years, i think.
It's fine, 3 pre outs, MP3, Bluetooth, etc.
What i was missing was a USB connection.
So i bought this. Came in today.

Pioneer CD-UB100
https://www.dropbox.com/s/s26f69kbcqhajv5/Pioneer%20CD-UB100%202.jpg?raw=1

Together with a 16 GB OCZ USB stick this gives me 2500 tracks (192 kbps or higher) and 2 GB free space left.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/hn2ud4821oib7wz/OCZ%20Rally2%2016%20GB.jpg?raw=1

https://www.dropbox.com/s/coor7dz9csywf2e/IMG_2823.JPG?raw=1

I think some 11 years old, have been used for 3 years. And in the closet for the rest. They are still fine. Have been thinking about replacing them.
Butt i'll wait, until they die.
The CA 80 i use for rear speakers, 2 channels from the 460 for front, and 2 bridged for the sub.

The sub is also in the house.
It's a Polk DB124.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/qkyw6sobacjz7kk/IMG_2824.JPG?raw=1

What i'm missing are front en rear speakers.
Had MB Quart's before, very nice sound, but after 3 years of beatings the best was behind them. I left them in the Civic when i sold it.

I thinking of buying these now.
Polk MM5251 as front speakers.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/5cwxpe122uueyuq/Polk%20MM5251.jpg?raw=1

And in the same serie the Polk MM 521 for rear speakers.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/uax8np926o3ndbq/Polk%20MM521.jpg?raw=1

For now it will remain by thinking, and listen to the ROARR of the engine. First have to save some money.
Will need new power cabel aswell Accord is longer than my old Civic and the battery is more to the front.
Waiting is a art.

No, its just decoration plastic.
I like the white front bumper light with a small blinker inside, which i see on some cars. Is it with 2 lights? 1 for blinker and 1 for parking light?
Like to have some more light in de front to be visible when driving around with pop up lights down.
Most people overhere drive around with lights on all the time, even with sunny weather. But thats not a Euro thing. Was on holiday in Spain and took a Volvo in which lights can not be turned off. I think a 1000 spanish blinked (if thats the right word) at me for having lights on during daytime.

I think those are the 88-89 bumper lights (mine are like your's, I just replaced the amber lens with clear plastic). But they only house the blinker. The parking lights are in the corner lenses here in the US.

Got APK on the car today, so it's legal to drive now, it's about time, have it for almost 4 months and just put in the second tank of V-power.
It turned out not so cheap. But have fresh disk-brakes, calipers and pads on the front, new upper suspension arm front, 2 dust cover of rot tip, some more dust things, a rubber here and a spring washer or 6 there, etc, and a new wiper on the back.
Also did (not APK) oil, filter, cylinder head cover gasket, and i think thats about it, for this year.
The last owner did not do his APK (Tüv in Germany) at the Honda dealer, thats for sure. I like them to find it all.
Wil need a set of front tires soon, trying to save up for the drop as well.
Don't want a shorter spring drop, had it with my previous accords, and it sucks. Like it to be adjustable this time.
Did not park the car underneath the carport today, don't trust the old thing, with snow and ice on top. Like it to be spring again....

Drove through Germany yesterday evening.
No ideal conditions, bad road surface, dark and it was freezing a little.
But managed to set a nice top.

http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/1990/topspeed.jpg (http://img151.imageshack.us/i/topspeed.jpg/)

This iPhone GPS app. is not very clear about the exact speed.
But the red triangle is the top speed.
It was a little downhill, but i think its 200 km/h (little over 124 miles/hour) at about 5600 rpm.

Wil do it again, during daytime with lights off and down. Wil take some better GPS then to.

Earlier that day my RMP meter was running mutch to high (not mutch at low rpm, the more rpm the more deviation), a restart didn't help, later it went back to normal by itself when i was driving, anyone have an idea?

Tomisimo
03-03-2011, 09:15 AM
yes, it depends on your engine temprature, when the engine is at its working temp. you sud have 2000rpm at 60kmH in 4th gear, I noticed this, after I was driving right after I jump in the car and take off, I usually get 2500RPM at 60 in 4th, but when the endine is hot 2000RPM.

To 160 km/h the car is okay, after that it takes some time to do 185. The last 15 km was help from downhill i think. This was a shitty 2 lane road, overtaking slow trucks and old people in dark at 200 km/h is quite exciting.
Germany has some mutch better roads than this one.
Think the tank will be emty after/before 2 hours....

All blue roads are speed limit free. Need to slow down to 100/120 at most cities, and slower at (a lot of) roadwork.
Some roads are very broad, silky and very straight.

Close to the BMW and Mercedes factories there will always be perfect speed limit free roads. Those brands have a lot of politic power.

At my car it was a free fix. Only costed time.
There was a bad contact at the antenna motor, i removed the fusebox to get to it. I had multiple malfunctions caused by leaking of the sunroof drain. (wire brakes)

Is de motor working? Or no sound when you push the button?
If not? Try 12 Volt directly to the antenna motor to find out if its okay.

BIG DILEMMA,

My best friend bought a Honda VTR.
So, his old ('92) PC25 CBR is for sale.
We both had '95 PC31's years back, i had (maybe stil have) a problem controling myselves, and saw 1 to many crashes happening in front of me, so sold it in 2004.
But every time a (nice) bike drives true my street i say to my girlfriend, "i used to own a bike". (read: miss the action)

The bike did 37.000 km and is in perfect shape.
New soft tires, new chain, battery, etc
I always loved this color, it stands time better dan the purple and yellow ones.

So what to do, make my girl happy and forget about it?
Or postpone speakers and drop, and ad this piece to the collection?

Right, a bit of a inefficient way of shipping IMHO. But maybe they had to
ship a whole lot to England and just one set to The Netherlands.. That's the only thing that I can think off at least...

I'm gonna install the Ksports when I've got the time. First things first, right? :)
If I can't get it done within the next month, I'm probably gonna wait till after Winter. If snow is as bad as last year,
and the forecast is that it's gonna be -20 degrees Celsius so that's possible, I can't drive a lowered car with my bodykit!
Besides, winter will do no good to them, so maybe it's even better to keep it in the shed for a few more months!

Thanks man. Amps are fine, old, but not cheap back then. I bought them long time ago, think in '97 or so (before we had the shitty Euro currency), installed them in the floor and removed them a few days later, the trunk of one of my previous Aerodecks was not watertight.
After that i had them on the shelf for 8 or 9 years, so practical new. :)
The speakers i use are 2,7 Ohms, and the amps remain stable.
No pictures of the inside...

If one of them dies i buy a 5 channel amp.

So what exactly is an "active" holder. Just with the charging port and buttons left free / not hided behind the plastic?
But I'll also wait for my new phone. My contract ends in a month, gonna get me a HTC Sensation (most probably).

Just another question on the Brodit Proclip (baseplate):
Is it steady? In other words: if you hold the mounted clip and move your hand, is it steady or loose..

Got me a Nokia N900 a few days back and do want a fixed active holder for it (just like you, would like to have the cigplug filled with the still unused cig lighter).
They're just kinda pricey (almost €95 for proclip and active holder) so if I take them I'd like it to be perfect of course! ;)

Your right, it's not cheap for a phone holder. Have been using Brodit for years and the quality is fine. The active ones from my pervious N73 and N96 which i both used for 2 years survived just fine, and no damage to the phones.
The base plate is steady and easy holds a TomTom XXL without moving at all. My 4S came in saturday the holder on monday, but i have the wrong bumper on the phone so it's does not fit. The right bumper is comming tomorrow.
For the iPhone 4 brodit has 3 kind of holders. Phone with bumper, phone with skin or naked phone. Nice!
You could buy the sig plug version (cheaper) and connect it with a contra sig plug behind the glovebox.
I decided not to buy the active one this time. I'm not gonna use the phone for navigation so the battery wil hold long enough. In an emergency I can always use the original charger which wil fit when phone is in the holder.
In my Civic i did not use the pro clip, screwed the holder right into the dash, looks better, if you don't mind holes in the dash. The new owner of the civic also bought a Brodit and reuse the holes.
When the original bumper is in, i'll make more pics. The pro clip will be out of sight when phone is placed.

The site where i ordered it said in stock, but it took 1 week to arrive.

The right bumper came in...

Still NO Ksports! The shop where i ordered them, ordered a second set from the Dutch supplier a few weeks ago. The set that comes in first is mine.
Waiting for more than 3 months now, ordered them in the second week of august! It sucks!

But when they come I will mount them directly, daddy or no daddy. :)

Yeah, something like that.
My APK (MOT) is comming up next month, and need to replace the shocks before that or it will not pass, one off them has deceased (and probably the front tires too)
Don't mind rain, but gonna stay off the roads when they sprinkle salt.
Not really need the Aero, my daily driver is my work van, and will use my girls little Micra for shopping and going to the gym, etc.

I think that's the difference between our Aerodecks. Mine will be used every day, no matter what the circumstances are.
In a month... Then it's even more about time to get them at your place!

Btw, the Aerodeck in the advertisement looks good. Nice car for 750 euros!
And it has ALB! :)
Are you gonna buy it? ;)

I'm happy with the way it turned out. The shocks default settings was max. stiff. Put it to max. soft and now it's a acceptable ride.
No tire rubbing until now and drove it with 3 people yesterday.
The install was easy. Only have to find a nice way to mount the front brakelines.
I can not understand how you have them laying arround for 6 month....
Waiting for the pics...

My stickers have survived about 3 carwashes already, so I think they're good.

About the laying around thing: I wanted to wait till after the snow/salt period. That has ended about a month ago, but haven't had a minute to do anything to the car... Have been working 7 day/week lately, but hopefully that has ended now!! :)
Pics will be in my own pics thread this saturday! ;)
