That just pisses me off, just cause you have an older vehicle, they figure they can get away with it and it doesn't matter...of course cops don't care and unless you have collision/uninsured motorist, you're kinda screwed. Its like here when the bums smash windows on the parked cars looking for change, drugs, or to steal your shit. No respect for other peoples property.

What part of FL now? I lived there for more than my fair share.

That is one beauty of FL...having time and space for a parts car, no such luck here. I grew up in the Burg...bay area. I never did much in Gainesville...can't say I'm a Gators fan or wanted anything to do with UF. I pretty much stayed around the Bay Area, Sarasota, and Orlando.

some of them "gangstas" tboned my mom in her new off the lot tundra the day she got it. pointed, laughed, and drove away before the cops get there. pissed the hell off doesnt quite describe it.

got a few quotes today. average is about 1500$ so it will most likely get totaled

If you have the parts, why not just replaced them and skip dealing with insurance and a salvage title?

just fix it or negotiate to see what they will pay without total, it's mostly cosmetic

the guy that did it came by again today and left a paper in my window with his name phone # and insurance info. if his insurance company is gonna give me money to fix it im gonna take it. even if it does mean a salvage title. im never gonna sell it.

Sucks dude. I totaled my 83 twice in four months, cost me a total of 135 $CDN to fix it. First time I smoked a deer, second time someone fired a beer bottle through the windshield. Luckily, the public insurance here likes writing cheques and telling people to get lost. Good thing my windshield was already broken, and insurance denied the original claim because it was snow weight damage, without evidence of "flying missile" damage. WTF. Guy with the beer bottle did me a favour.

do you have the dot corners or the line? i think i have some dot ones and a grill piece just let me know if you need it if it had been the other corner marker i had a spare, but i don't have a spare for that side

Ayeobe
09-17-2010, 06:50 PM
Its the dot corners, or should be.. Damn, man, that sucks. If he had hit from the front, you'd be fine hah.. the front bumpers are crazy resiliant, but i guess that isnt an angle they thought you'd get hit from.. Shit. I have a spare 87 corner light from FL lol. But i guess if you can find one in the pull a part down there, itll cost 1$, and S&H is gona cost more than that!

Fuck the insureance, dude. Pull a part. Its dirt freakin cheap there.

Ya really just get a new fender/bumper/lights and you'll basically be back to normal, all for like 50$ at a pull-it.. My accident basically looked just like that and it cost me nothing to fix and the repair estimate was 1000$.

If you need any parts, I'm over in Palatka and I will be coming to G-Ville a LOT over the next couple of weeks to panic build 2 GRM $2010 Challenge cars.

What are you doing tomorrow? I might have some time that I need to kill.

was dotted corners, then i changed it to lined, now i have a reason to use my clear corners that have been collecting dust for more than a year now.

all the shops i went to were quoting me about $430 for junkyard parts. i priced everything NEW on ebay after shipping $480. or i can pull it all off my parts car for free.

im down for a mini meet. im off all day monday and wednesday.

well they are going to total it. but the final value is under 1500 so i get to keep original title not a salvage title. i will have to pay part of my paint out of pocket but oh well. was planningto get it done soon anyways.

I feel bad for you,

But I also dont understand the titling...

So lets say you 100% own the car.. and you get minor damage like he took to his front headlight, bumper, and fender..

They would mark your car as a salvage junk car and try to take it from you?

If that was the case if they came for my car id tell em to get the ($#$ off of my property before it got hostile.

There is no reason to mark it salvage or junk because of that... Its completely driveable...

Maybe im understanding the titling wrong though...

(edit)

Also.. how the heck does somebody hit the front headlight and bumper when they are in a parking lot with cement and grass in front of the space? The dumb $(#) doesnt notice he is going into grass? I mean come on when he turned into the spot he didnt notice that he was slanted at an angle bad enough to do that kind of damage to the bumper and headlights? WTF???

Sorry for my ranting. Im pretty pissed about that because I bet it was some dumb #$(# driving some stupid SUV that is to big for them to handle and dont even need it because they dont have a damn family to drive around. ughhhh

is the rear upper corner of that fender ok? i'm going to mount my fuse panel under the fender and i need to make an access door attached with druz fasteners. would it be much trouble to cut off that section?, i think it will fit in a USPS flat rate box. I hate to cut up a good fender to make the door

Insurance companies just want to get rid of the problem throw some bucks at you and then leave. Glad that you are taking care of it. I hope you managed to get as much $$$ from the insurance as possible

damn insurince companys!!!

good thing the new parts are same color though !, why dont u have the lxi rims on it though? id repaint them black again without the center caps and they look much better then hubcaps ^_^ also swap the 88-89 front brakes!

VIPER1988

i originally had those rims on it. but huge underwater pothole bent 2 of them. parts car is an 87 also. so brakes are the same. rain cant decide if it wants to stay or go. really irritating. now i have no ride to work.
