Hey All,

Just looking for some honest feedback on what an 89 SEI Coupe might be worth these days? Might be time to part with an old friend. I think it's about 39,000, original, on the odometer. Front leather's a bit rough. Has a sunroof, OEM fogs, stock CD player. Never been crinkled.

Anybody wanna play?

Thanks,

Jeff

If I were in the market and on that side of the country, I'd consider paying about $2500-$3000 for one in perfect shape. I'd live with the seats, but I'd expect about $500 reduction in price, depending on actual condition. This is assuming records for the past 5 years AT LEAST are available, there's a clean title history, the car is a one owner or two owner vehicle, and nothing at all needs attention (other than the seats).

in 2005 I was looking for a car just like yours in the 4500-5k range. That being said its been 5 years and the economy isnt quite what it was back then. I think if I could find a loan for 3k Id offer it to you on the spot and not a penny less. On CL http://seattle.craigslist.org/skc/ctd/1958330858.html in our market, about the same condition but 170k miles more then you have. This one is my favorite colors and also been listed for about a month that I have noticed. Hope this helps, be sure to list it on ebay, tell the board and let me make payments. hahahaha

On this side of the country, it could easily go for 3.5-4k. Beautiful car.

I could sell your car for $6,000 easy around here, maybe more. All it takes is a good posting and good pictures. People are selling LX-i's with 130k for almost $4,000. The only downside I see in your car is the aftermarket sunroof.

If your car was a 5-speed without a sunroof, I'd take a loan out and buy it.

char;lie I can fix the 5 speed thing and you can live with a sunroof in a 37k mile minty car. get a loan so it doesnt fall into someones hands that doesnt know what they have.

damn, I remember showing my wife this car and her saying she'd even drive that. (She is not a fan at all of the 3G, and she loves her '07 Murano SL, so to hear that from her was a bit of a jaw-dropper.)

JC -->, much like nswst8 and 88LXi68 said, that's the sticking point. These are not quite 'desirable' as classics or vintage jap tin yet, and are just old enough that a lot of parents looking to buy a starter car for their kid or a working adult would pass up just due to their age and the stigma of lack of reliability with an aging car.

A car like this is usually victim of an unfortunate sale to someone that will not appreciate it due to what you'll actually be able to sell it for as compared to what we, as that 'niche' group value it at.

For reference though, I was considering buying one of these (a Brittany Blue identical to yours) but in much rougher shape for about $1200. The quote for body work and paint was another $1500, followed by a full reupholstery job at $650, then about $400-500 worth of preventative maintenance and freshening up, at which point I'd put it at just about where you are now. That puts it at just shy of $4k all in.

That said, I'd 'value' your car at about $4000-5000, but think a more realistic sale price would be anywhere between $2800 - $3500.

Are you seriously considering selling it? What sort of price were you thinking of asking for it?

I've seen it too. It's every bit as amazing as it looks in the pictures. Actually, pictures don't do the car justice as to how awesome it is. :) Keep it!! It's worth (IMO) way more than what you can get cash-wise. You'll never find another one like it.
