when she's warmed up it runs just fine, 1100rpms... the problem is after 10 min of driving ill be cruising and it jerks a couple times and sometimes the gas pedal is on the floor and I'm slowing down. then my program fuel injection light comes on and it idles at 2000 to 2200rmps but once in gear drives just fine. but sometimes when the light is on ill be on the gas and it barely goes until like 2500rpms then it takes off... my buddy said it might be my fuel pump. but i don't know for sure. she has 337,xxx on her. I am in need of a know it all. lol

best thing to do is check the ecu when the light comes on cause it will be flashing a code and it will tell you exactly whats wrong (ahh EFI FTW)

yep at the top of the efi tech section theres a list of what the codes mean and it will explane how to check them

im not sure exactly the problem until u get us the code but sounds kinda like your egr is getting stuck open and causes the exhuast to go back in the engine which would then cause teh car to munt hard

The ecu will still remember the old problem and flash the code unless you reset it. Disconnect the battery for a while and plug it back in, that will clear the code.

Pull the #10 Clock fuse for 10 seconds to clear the code.

LOL a new motor isn't going to solve your problem. First, make sure that the ECU is still flashing the same code. Most guys think the code indicates a part that needs to be replaced. THIS IS WRONG!!!! It indicates a problem in the circuit that controls the part. You have to figure out exactly what is going wrong and then fix the specific problem. It might be a part, but it could also be a loose wire.

The '89 factory service manual is available here (http://honda.roadpwnage.com/manuals/pages/usdm-accord-1989-full.php). The '89s are different from the '86s, but we don't have the '86 manual, so you'll have to do the best you can with the '89 manual. If you are still getting 7 flashes, go to page 12-28 and proceed through the troubleshooting procedure. You will need a multimeter. If you don't have one, borrow one. If you can't borrow one, they run about $15 and it will be the best $15 you ever spent.

Let us know what you find.
