I just replaced the alternator on my 89 hatch. All i need now is new cv shafts and it road ready. Not a pretty car by any means but i just might get it there. I really just want to vent about the positioning of the alternator. For real? i had to remove it, push it aside and remove the mount just to get it out. It had to be at just the right angle and was frustrating as hell. I have replaced a few alt's in my day and this one top's em all as most difficult. That did however make it all the more sweet when the battery light no longer lit up. One part down, who know's how many more to go.

Man that is so true.. if a part just slips right in and fixs the problem, It doesnt feel like the problem is fixed even if it really is!

Now if the part is hard as (#@# to get in it feels like it is completely fixed..

Idk why that holds true...

Whats fun is going to the autoparts store and picking up another one then realizing after you are 99% disconnected on the original that it wasn't plugged in for some reason lol

I just unbolt it and slide it under the intake mani near the dogbone and pull it out that way. I cant remember if i had to take the airbox out to do it though.

its a bit harder to do with a carb with 39 lines coming out of it...but yeah my first time took me an hr and the 2nd time like 30 mins...just depends on the tools you have

weber swap makes everything back there easier, lol

the EFI cars are easy, all you have to do is take off the air cleaner box and it comes out of the top. A gear wrench would really help.
