:nervous::nervous:

Oh shit! Its me and my 'custom' work again haha! Few years back I did this:
http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/7070/1004007l.jpg

From this (stock, EW!):
http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/1452/img031x.jpg

I'm getting sick of the upper chrome trim (not so chrome anymore as they are peeling haha) falling off randomly and I can never find a proper way to get them to stay permanently and since I converted my windows to electric windows, I have no other way to mount the switches other than the center console and I always wanted door mounted ones for some reason ><

I played around with the idea of combining different parts from other cars. I always loved 3geez door armrests with the window switches. Went junkyard hunting yesterday to find them, sadly theres one 1 3g but its missing drivers side door panel. I'm like FFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU dfsdfsdghsdgdsghdsgsda and about to set the whole junkyard on fire ><

Anyway theres 7 2g around so I'm like uh I'm sure I can make them fit somehow so I went home with this mess:
http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/113/1003983d.jpg

They are out of a 2g Accord if you can't tell heh. My plan is to combine them both together and have them looking stock (Y).

Heres what I did so far:

Lotsa work needed, they are longer up front:
http://img375.imageshack.us/img375/7987/1003988h.jpg

And shorter at the back -.- Why Honda WHYYYYYYYY?!! But then I realized hay that adds the fun to it :p I KNEW it wont be plug and play. I love custom work and making things fit on a tight budget (Y)
http://img685.imageshack.us/img685/9383/1003987s.jpg

Chopped up with 1g part up on the top
http://img830.imageshack.us/img830/9725/1003995.jpg

What it should look like with carpeted bottom
http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/6108/1003998.jpg

I'm gonna rewrap them in black vinyl with matching fabric for the center part with my seats obviously.

Rebuilt my switches today. Cleaned up the contacts, regreased them and repainted the buttons black from the faded gray.

No such thing as "decent" in my book :p haha kidding! That would mean theres gonna be gaps on the B pillar trim. But I've got that fixed anyway!

Blahh. Not perfect :\ Hate this but theres no way I'm gonna be able to get rid 100% of the wrinkles. I hate the area around the speaker but that is the best that I could do. I actually ripped them and redid the vinyl again because it was worse before (N). Just ask anybody that have done upholstery work before, shit isn't easy >< But yeah its not done, I still have to fix the upper and bottom part. I need a break ><

what kind of glue are you using? you need some really strong upholstery contact cement, don't use the spray stuff it's not strong enough to keep off the wrinkles, and eventually will start to release. start covering the center part with the armrest first and work out, also get one of those plastic wallpaper rollers. also what type of vinal are you using? if it's the heavy thick wallmart stuff forget it, you''ll never get the wrinkles out, you need automotive upholstery vinal, it's a lot thinner and it stretches much better then the thick stuff. there's a lot of it on ebay, let me know and i'll try to find you a link. people have been trying to stretch that thick vinal for decades, it never works.

I'm using some upholstery glue, its really strong but I guess its the vinyl being a little too thick :( I got them from local upholstery shop too. But its looking a lot better on the driver's side panel. I'm not expecting too much considering this is my first time dealing with stuffs like this. I have done simple flat surface which is a piece of cake. This is too much for me right now I guess.

But worst case, I'll just redo them (:

Today's progress. Doing that line thinggy up top with a TV coax cable wrapped in the vinyl and stapled them together. No proper tools for such job ftl -.- And that actually took me 4 tries to get it perfect. I have OCD and its driving me crazy ><

95% complete. Slow progress. Yeah its dirty. It should look decent when its all cleaned up! And the whole panel weighs a ton! Haha fucker weighs like 3x more than stock ><

Hada reuse 1g door handles, which is something I don't plan to do since the black trim thinggy are broken and finding a good one is nearly impossible. But then I'm not comfortable hacking my doors to use the 2g handles. Oh well this will do for now. I'll see what I can do next time. I can always redo the fabric insert later on.

Hazwan
10-15-2010, 07:53 AM
Not much done today. I was having fun with the wires :D It's fun when you are combining two different components from two different manufacturers (N) I've got a main switch out of a Daihatsu for really cheap, and since my power windows are custom (hacked) ones, I really don't wanna go through all the trouble again to retrofit something from another Honda, since Honda's power window electrical is slightly different from everyone else, having two extra wires on driver's side motor for auto up/down thinggy. The Daihatsu's switch doesn't and simply rely on load detection for the motor. Combining that with the 2g switch is rather fun if you ask me LOL. But yeah I've managed to get it working (Y)

I've done similar stuff with my power folding mirrors with them coming out from a Nissan and the switch being a Honda :p

Haha thanks! The console is from... you guessed it. A 2g Accord :p They fit fine, I didn't have the original brackets so I had to fabricate them. I'm sure the original brackets should fit fine with extra holes and such made.

Anyway the panels are 95% complete, the front ones at least haha and I haven't touched them since yesterday. I moved on to wiring work for a bit since I'm sick with the panels for now :P

3x power window
2x power lock
3x courtesy lamp/side mirror mounted puddle lamps (more of that later)
2x speaker
2x illumination for whatever thing I'm gonna do next. It was there stock so I might as well keep them.
5x power folding mirror

And that is just for the passenger doors, more on driver's and its not a big deal on cars that came with them stock, but on mine.. LOL it has like 2 stock haha.

It worked great for 3 years for the front doors, so I don't see why it wouldn't work for this :p Best part from it, its CHEAP! These motors are like $20 each vs finding uber rare JDM 1g with power windows or aftermarket setup.

Also did the puddle lamps for my side mirrors. They should work awesome hooked up to my alarm where they would lit up the ground whenever I'm disarming (and folding out my mirrors). Not that I need them but it sure is a cool thing to have :p

All LEDs (Y)

I haven't posted anything about this but a nice hidden surprise for me! It was smaller of course. I had to cut all the rusted part out and gonna get them welded at the shop soon. My rocker panels are free of rust surprisingly (Y)

Very nice, I like the new center console leading up to the dash and the relocated radio it allows, so much better than being forced to leave the radio "hanging" out in the undersized original location.

I had to make a "hole" in the A/C system to make room for the radio. :(

Seriously. Stop quoting pictures when you don't need to.

That's killer haz, can you make it flip up so you can still have the storage underneath?

Your co pilot will be able to fix your engine when that warning to intake mani pops up! haha

Heehe, fitting a programmable on-the-fly engine management next!
Must admit to fantasizing about big (touch?)screen display in Huge custom centre console for the '88 integra (that I cant afford/justify putting on the road yet!)

Engine swap :)

Hazwan
01-31-2011, 06:08 AM
So many ideas :( But haha I think my next plan would be redoing the dash layout as that isn't a good place for a screen as it distracts me from the road way too much as well as the killer glare when its sunny out. I would either relocate the screen to where the climate control goes right now, but that would look stupid with the dash shape :( I really want a newer, much modern dash to start with, a CRX or EG civic dash would be perfect for it but.... yeah $$$

Oh engine swap wouldn't be a bad idea either :p

I know, but I need something with a space for me to fit a screen on where its eye level so I don't have to get my eyes off the road everytime I need to change stuffs/look at the GPS.
