Thrashing on what, a Geo Metro? ;) Your coupe is not a 2.0Si.

Seems like the truth for most Scion drivers.

3g = 0
elantra i have no clue as i haven't looked but i can get to and from work twice on 10 bucks with is a lil more then 3 gallons

but with a lil math i get aproximetly 22.53 miles per gallon

its 15.9 miles to work x 4 trips / 3 gallons = 22.53

I'm getting about 20mpg city, and around 28-30 highway. Absolutely shitty mileage because of the cam.

Funny thing, with your 13 mpg your fuel cost is about the same as mine with 35 mpg (highway). In town I get more like 20-25 mpg, which makes my fuel cost somewhere around $0.40-0.45/mile. Yay for gas being about $7.60/gal over here.

im interested to know what the integra 5th gear does, are the rpms higher or lower than the stock a20 box??? reason is im putting 1g teg/3g civic gears in my b18 box for my b20 lol

my civic currently is getting about 130km to $20 gas:

$20 @ $1.85 /L = 10.8 liters
therefore:
km/l: 12
MPG:34
L/100k:8.3

somethings wrong with my civic arrghghhhh

i think 35mpg is bout right for a manual b20a.
i know i could go from invers to dunners and back and go to work for a week on a tank which is prob 600 km with the light only just starting to flicker.
for you yanks , thats imperial gallons, not the girlie US gallon

^^i dont have a running accord, this is the civic doooode, it should be way better as its rated 7.2 or 7.5l/100k in an orthia!

i need to pull off the rocker cover and see if the cam timing is all good

thats prob still to bad for a civ.
my mums d15 powered civ only just cracks 40mpg on the open road.

thats not too bad really. my accord used to get better than my civic. some civics use more gas cause their d series engines are underpowered. my civic shd be good cause its overpowered

My 86 gets 28mpg mixed on 87 octane. For some reason, the mileage gets worse with 89 and 93 octane. So, at $2.60/gallon, my cost per mile would be $0.09.

The Accord is getting 32 mpg pretty consistently. The Bimmer gets 20.1. No more, no less. I don't know what the truck is getting cause I have it torn apart all across the shed.

CAH, don't feel too bad. I never got more than about 20 mpg out of my 4g. They designed that car more for performance than economy. The Camry at that time was sporting a V6 along with every other mid-sized car, so Honda had to really up the performance at the cost of mileage. Even so, 13 is pretty crummy. Let us know what you learn.

my gas mileage was done in US mpg, i prefer km/l anyway, which is around 13.5km/l

yup even when i just drive it normally it gets shitty milage so i typically kepp my foot to the floor lol. i figure if im getting the same bad milage i might as well have fun right?

As A18A stated previously, my preference is also for km/l. I get between 13.4 and 14.0 km/l. The weight of my foot determines my fuel economy.

My 87 Accord Dx just got 27mpg (60% city; 40% city) before I changed the oil & air filter. I've also got a bad wheel bearing that I'm sure will help out when fixed. Last night I put in some STP gas treatment in (Autozone had a 3 for $5 deal going). I'm hoping to get somewhere around 30mpg after the wheel bearing & my pcv valve get replaced.

I had to scroll up here, so somebody had a turbo explorer?

B20 LX never gets much over 25 sometimes 28 , should get better after it's aligned. Manifold floor too close to carb base & It needs a carb spacer, it will after the hole is cut in the hood.lol
A20a3 Hatch gets 25-31

I'm getting 25mpg, mostly back roads, 10 miles to work and back. I also have a bad wheel bearing (fixing this weekend) and I'm going to replace my PCV valve too.

What should I expect on a 1987 Accord DX manual?

Ways to get better MPG?

I drive ~120 miles round trip to work in my accord. I drive in 1/2 mountains and 1/2 city. 80% freeway. average a little over 3k rpm (little high for me) and a little over 70 MPH.

It has 2.0LXI, 5 speed, 175/70r13 tires, 2" resonator, 2" CA legal cat, and a 2.25" straight pipe to the rear bumper.

So far I calculated 34 MPG. I have noticed that my odo spins at a diff rate than my trip meter, so Im going to map my route per fill up and get more accurate results.

Skellington
11-10-2012, 06:17 PM
*more accurate MPG*
I ran a full tank of gas and this is how it came down:

63.5 - miles per way to/from work
x6 - trips
=
381 - miles
+2.8 - miles from gas station to my house
+14 -miles to final fill up station
=
397.8 total miles
/10.81 - gallons of gas
=
36.79 MPG BABY!

I used google maps to calculate the distances because odometers in cars are always off. I knew there's a reason I want to commute in this car rather than my 2007 corolla s.
Will new, taller tires will improve MPG?
