Its using an air cooled KZ1000 motor...as basic as an inline 4 motor gets. They are a dime a dozen and dirt cheap (there is a pair of them floating around on craigslist for 100 bucks)

right, but see out there in az, all the junk yards you go to, if there is a nice 3g or crx or 4g civic you open the door to check the mileage, and low and behold, the cluster is gone.

first part gone always, now if the car was in a place that didn't need vehicle emissions and didn't have to update the speedo reading / was never sold so the title didn't request it (sierra vista az does no emissions, same as heber, az prescott, az and flagstaff, az) than you could realistically say it has whatever miles the cluster says.

it does look to be low mileage vehicle but it's hard to say for sure.

There is one cardinal rule about buying/selling that these folks often seem to break. Any time you add the phrase "or best offer" to a listing it pretty much tells everyone that you will take less than the asking price. Better to either ask for a higher price and haggle down, or just state "make offer." I have been in purchasing as a profession for years and the first person to state a price has the weaker hand in a negotiation.

an 86 is as old as me, probably older because if it's an 86 it was probably made in 85 for the 86 model year. that car looks to be in great condition minus the wheels. i would give him 2k for it because it's an SI so it's fuel injected. those cars are rockets with swaps in them.

i found this on craigslist can't find the craigs link, but i looked up just to be sure i wasn't crazy. the KBB suggest RETAIL value, meaning selling at a dealer, was 1900 in excellent condition. i definitely see oxidized paint on the rear quarter and i'm sure it's got some dents.

Probably because there are no remotely large cities close to Seattle. Portland is the closest, which is why a lot of people from down there post their cars up here. People up here just pay more for cars. As for the rust: I don't know why, but around here cars aren't rusty. It doesn't happen...

That's the thing here though. We don't get split dashboards or faded paint. We hardly even get rust here. The rain doesn't really cause rust like you see out east. I mean, we do get some rust, but it's not much worse than a car from California. We don't salt our roads any more than a few days, and after that, it rains and your car pretty much gets rinsed off naturally, if you're too lazy to wash it. And so long as all the drains are working fine, the car gets plenty of chances to dry out.

This really is the best place to keep a car, IMO. Although, admittedly, I don't understand the inflated values here either. We have so many old cars around, you'd think they'd be cheaper.

Oh, also, half our state has no emissions requirements, so old cars don't usually get taken off the road by smogging requirements.
