CF intake?

i was wondering if anyone know the point of those CF intakes besides weight loss? i dont understand why th tube itself goes from small to huge hump and then small again.

if you can find one for a 90-93 accord or a 91-93 Teg it well fit but you would have to mod it up alittle.

If you're going to justify the use of Carbon, substitute it for something that is traditionally heavy or endures loads, like a hood, doors, trunk lid etc. otherwise its really ornamental:
