Ok so im thinkin that here when i get paid im going to say screw it and get a weber.
The question i had is, the heat shields... Do you have to have them? I mean i know the point of having them and their pourpose but damn it looks lame with a open area and a little tiny carb there atleast its covered with all the vac lines and a big as carb for now.

Is a weber pretty much the only way i can go?
or a little more expensive alternative that gives a little more hp??

I'd keep the heat shield. I know they look gay, but at least they hide the exhaust, there's nothing worse than your carb boiling off all the fuel when you idle or stop for five minutes. Or a fire.

I don't run the heat shield under the carb. Never had any problems. There is a shield between the intake and exhaust manifolds where they bolt together though. It's small and you can't see it so I run that.

Alright good to know,, i was only thinking about taking the top one off anyways.. Would i need to use a thicker gasket or something, i noticed that there is a gasket on top and bottom of the shield so removing it would create a gap???
