I saved all the pics bitesize sent to me so you can use that as a template. I can pay whatever you would like as long as the setup is top notch. I dont solder and I dont have the time. Best scenerio, bitesize gets off his worthless ass and sends me mine. Next option, buy another set. They looked outstanding and would like another set. If you would like to help let me know. I can post pics of what Im looking for if anyone is interested. Thanks

You should just post some pics in here anyways. Might be able to build something without soldering. I replaced all my gauge lights with blue LEDs and it looked fantastic.

Pics sent to charlie to upload. I hate not being a computer guy, but then its always easier to have help as well. Thanks charlie

you are the man. Thanks charlie. The last pic is what Im looking for. You can see how many he used. I know he snaded them on top and I know he used a few sizes as well. Its all backlit. Oh man to think I paid to give him these gauges, Im so depressed all the sudden

Just buy some LED strips, and buy the LED bulbs that fit in the sockets. Superbrightleds.com will have all those. The LED strips are easy enough to put inside the gauges. If I ever get a free weekend, I could probably come up and help you with it. I don't really see what you need to solder to be honest.

If you really want it done the way I'd do it (the way they solder right on the board with new cars), I'm in for it. I have a spare cluster or 3 to work with as well.

Is there really still a market for this? I have a lot of late night time on my hands, and extra cash is always good.

Word. LED strips are better and easier IMO, except you have to get the gauge face off. But then its worth the effort for the nice and even lighting vs individual LED bulbs with their gay hotspots.

Wow those LED Strips do it!

now just make it so the whole cluster will glow red if you hit redline! lol

as narrow as the LED strips are, you run a red one beside the blue one, the positive power to the strips goes through a double pole, single throw micro relay, normally the blue receives power through the normally closed contact, and the red is connected to the normally open, the relay coil is triggered by an RPM switch, when the rpm switch is at redline the relay changes state and the main gauges go from blue to red. you can even use an electronic flasher inline with power to the red strips and make the over around the rpm gauge flash. Do they make those LED strips in green? i like the blue, but the blue i can change my cluster to hurts my eyes over a long period, i would rather have brighter green. the LED negative side can go to the dimming circuit like the factory bulbs

yeah it sounds like a great mod, they do make them in green you can buy those strips even at walmart, We sell them in the automotive accessories section right under the Turbo badges and next to the 4x4 badges, not joking!

I've seen the chinese ones, but i wonder how long they last? and it worries me about the microscopic wiring. have you seen anyone selling a high quality one like it? i would hate to have to take my cluster back apart

There aren't many foundries that make LEDs to begin with. The power requirements are so low that you simply don't need heavy wiring for them.

it's not the current requirements, it's the poor connections and cheap insulation on the Chinese ones, I would hate to do a really nice job with them, then have to rip it all back out. best to start with some quality ones, the other thing is some of the cheaper ones use inferior LEDS, so they are run at more current then spec to appear brighter, which makes them burn out a lot quicker, they figure most people won't have them long enough to care

Actually, overdriving diodes is extremely common. LED flashlights do it ALL the time. I really mean ALL the time. Sure, you lose some life, but when we're dealing with life spans of 100,000+ hours, it's not really that big of a deal.

Even genuine American. German, and Japanese LED's don't last that long. I see countless new cars with dead spots in the tail lights.

I may try this mod with the rpm activated red LEDS . It should be easy enough to do.

So uh, I've only seen the 2geez gauges detached from the dash/bezel. I'm guessing the 1geez and 3geez gauges are not tinted [?], since you guys can just change the color with leds alone. My gauges have a green layer printed onto the plastic itself.

On the 3GEE the NS Cluster has Green Tint built into the plastic, The Nippondenso uses bulb condoms to color the light.

I don't know if this also holds true on the 2G

Ah, thanks man. Thats what i was thinking, mine are Seiki. Long ago CAH had posted scans of a Denso cluster from a 2g and they were completely different, guess I need to hit em up on FB.

OP sorry for the perpetuation of thread jackage

Mine has the gay green tint as well but the blue light shines through it just fine. I tried with white LEDs, which obviously wont work since it lights up green LOL. Tried red and amber as well with no luck (N) The only color that would work for it is blue and green.

I cut the top gauge cluster light(s) and replaced them with pink superflux LEDs and it works perfect, other than the corrosion on the gauges' pc boards :(
