so, im not sure if alot of my issues are related to the year differences at all or not. i tried fitting my 86 rear bumper with the 89 rear bumper rebar, and it seems to not want to fit at all. alot of the bolts didnt even line up all that well to the cover.

does everything have to be from a single year? at this point in time, id hate to bring it to a body shop just to have them tell me i need to buy new parts on top of everything ive already done to make it work.

If you have a sedan the rear bumper changed with the facelift. So, 86-87 differs from 88-89. I think to swap you need to change the metal bumper as well as the bumper cover and between parts.

If you have a hatch the bumper is the same.

Damn, thats shitty news for me, i wanted to stick an 87 bumper on my 89...and i only can get the bumper cover.. no hardware.. thats kinda shitty.

Same applies to the front bumper. If you want the update, you need the internals. You can't just bolt it on.

Facelift. Different shape, trim, height.

Facelift. Different shape, trim, height.

that explains quite a bit as to why the back wont fit so nicely. with the front, only one side fits nicely, but the other side doesnt. does the rebar have something to do with it despite fitting properly?

Yeah, if the "rebar" is the metal bumper, it's different.
