I'm looking for the definitive test for a Hitachi distributor igniter (two lead). The service manual shows testing of the TEC distributor igniter (four lead). I've attempted to extrapolate a Hitachi igniter test from the TEC igniter test in the manual text.
Here are my results: 1)One terminal (Bl) of igniter to ground I get 2200 ohms.
2) Other terminal (Bu) of igniter to ground I get infinite ohms (open).
3) Bl to Bu terminal I get infinite ohms (open) regardless of
meter polarity.
I don't know what the readings should be for this igniter.
Car died without notice while driving, got towed home on Christmas eve. Car cranks fine but I have determined I have no spark. I'm trying to narrow down what is wrong with the ignition system. I've checked fuses, coil, noise suppression capacitor and wiring all checked out fine.
