I know the heads are different, but I think we've got a cracked block, could I take a DX/LX block and use the LXi head and intake on the DX/LX block? Anything I have to look out for?

I looked it up on the one Honda Parts site and they both came up as part number 11000-PH4-000 So I assume they are the same

i really do need a short block. i want to put 11.5 :1 pistons. race cam and a sweet weber setup. DCOE's? and then a lot of weight reduction on a two door and put some lite ass wheels and my new coil overs. two fibreglass buckets inside only! no heat, fans, air, speedo. nothin just the vital guages and a huge tach! i will use GPS as a speedo.

the blocks are the same. But not quite. The sensor placement is a lil different on the carb block than the efi block. The carb has an extra sensor stuck in the back. The header and intake and all other shit go in the same way for both blocks. The only major difference for a efi and carb is the compression ratio that was 9.1:1 on carbs and 9.3:1 on efi's as u know.

travis, thats pretty high compression, u think ur block is gonna hold? dont wanna see another cracket head.

I wouldn't use the DX/LX blocks because of the drop in compression ratio. If I had a cracked 86/87 EFI, then a DX/LX block would be okay while the 88/89 EFI would be even better. As for the added sensor in the back, there's a plug/bolt on the EFI engines so you'll just have to swap it (I did this when I used an 86 EFI block for the 88 carbed)
