88 Lx-i clutch pedal stay on the floor

Hello my name Coy and I just bought another 88 lx-i 5 speed and the when I press the clutch down it stays on the floor? Could this be a clutch issue or cable?

check the end of the cable on the transmission. Have someone watch it and see if the lever is moving when the pedal does. If not you've got a broke cable

its moving, but after it goes in gear I have to pull the pedal back up to release the clutch with my hand. Sort of like a bad slave cylinder does on a hydraulic clutch system.

sounds like the spring on the clutch pedal assembly is broke

or your throw out bearing spring broke / bearing tabs for the spring broke.
you adjust your clutch cable recently?
