When i start my car first thing in the morning or after it sits for a while it idles up between 2000 to 4000 rpms than once the motor temp gets to a quarter of the way up on the temp gage it will idle back down but i have to tap the gas peddle for it to do that does any one know what can make it do that cause i have no clue and i am not wanting to assume carb completely cause a new one costs around 500 bucks and thats allot for an guess part so if any one has an idea of what could make it do this please let me know thanks

Fast idle should be between 2-3,000. Four thousand is a tad high. Start by cleaning the choke with some spray carb cleaner. If that doesn't do it, then there are some manuals available on the wiki (http://3geez.wiki-tv.com/Honda_service_manuals). They will include a section on choke adjustment.

ive ran seafoam through use carb cleaner and it still does it ive checked the timing the throtle cable you think rebuilding it would fix it by chance

Two threads are unnecessary.

I think you should get cozy with the manual and figure out how to adjust it. If the carb is running fine otherwise, no sense in rebuilding it.

Might want to check your throttle cable. My car was idling high...holding steady at 2700rpms. One day...messed with the throttle cable and to my supprise...the rpms dropped. Im guessing the cable is getting stuck and its keeping the choke open...or shut?

Maybe another choke/fast idle unloader problem? It would be nice to read about how some of these are finally resolved.... where the vac leak was, what part failed, etc. For sure these things will cause your symptoms.
