View Full Version : What do you think about BOX FLARES on a 3g sedan?

visal911

My quarter panels are really rusted out so i was thinking of fixing them up with my friend using bondo etc. Anyways i'm a huge fan of Box flared fenders and rallying(specially the group B cars) i was wondering if i could put a small box flare on my 3g sedan. Not a huge one, just a small nice and subtle one. What do you guys think? and what kind of wheels would look good with them?

Or should i just stick with the original look? Has it been done before?

Thanks in advance

I think it would look pimp with the right body kit. It would be a lot of work though to get it to come out right. Are you looking to buy flares or make your own?

Box flares on a sedan.... no.

The rear door is too close to the fender arch.

Just get replacement panels and weld them in.

old school Audi quattros are "sickkkk" and all the old Lancias ( 037, S4, Stratos, integrale) and the escorts....don't get me started on rallying lol

I actually have a idea behind my head to prepare my 3g to go amateur rallying in my area...with the the huge fog lights in the front near the pop ups, spare wheel in the roof and the rolll cage etc and the Alitalia paint job...just a dream though.

the 3gee is a great platform for any autosport that involves handling. it amazes me that i cannot get my 3gee to break loose in any way no matter how hard or fast i hit a corner on the street. and all i have is stock suspension and a set of toyo proxie. great potential!

Less front bar or more rear bar helps with understeer. If you're plowing hard in a 3gee, I suspect you have suspension issues. They were balanced towards understeer, but I've gotten several 3geez to oversteer without mods at all.

Me? I am experiencing understeer. I blame it partially on the 75k I've put on 25k tires. The only think I've noticed with my suspension is a front-right creak when I go over speed bumps.

They're in great condition as far as I'm concerned (for the mileage). No camber, caster, toe, or misalignment/balance wear. As of right now they need to be rotated. Les Schwab said they won't do an alignment because the treadware bar is showing...? I don't seen anything.

Dr_Snooz

I am similarly unable to get my car to break loose. I took a 35 mph corner at 85 mph once and was able to get some sideways drift, but that's been it so far. It was nothing scary; I just noted mentally that the car had drifted sideways some at the apex of the turn. Nothing has ever swung out on me. No understeer or oversteer or anything. It's the most superbly balanced, tenacious little car I've ever driven. Maybe it's a stock suspension thing. I don't know.

No guys really, give a guy a brake, he only asked for some info, dont jump on hem if you dont want to help.
I can appreciate this, if its done good and clean, and the work that is put in this, even if I not a big fan of this anymore. But you know whats going to look sick? is flared wheel arches, rear once on a 3Gee is almost flat, if you can get those just as wide as the front fenders, and do it cleanly, with good offset wheels, the car will look stuning. I'm planing on this when I'm gona tuckle rust on my.

Hey everyone thanks for your ideas ( negative ones too lol) anyways i don't want to rice my car up, infact i hate ricers and everything that goes with it. What i want to do is restore my exterior like the day it left the factory. The QP's are so badly rusted out with holes and so much shit there its not even funny. I think i need new QP's and i will have to weld them in...(which i have no idea how to do but my friends dad is good at these kind of stuff and i think he will help me, but if you have any links please share with me. Thanks in advance.

What i asked in the OP is what you guys think about small subtle box flares...just a small line going on there and i knew it was hard to get right so i just wanted some feedback you know...anyways i think i'm just gonna fix the rust and get my hit of rallying details somewhere else....maybe some Hella fog lamps with covers on it lol

Anyways thanks alot and sorry for the mistakes here, i'm on my phone.

Yeah man that's what i was thinking, but the thing is even without BOx flares its really really hard to find cars with good QP in Toronto. Its pretty damn impossible. Even German steel rusts out here pretty quickly. I could buy new QP's from ebay for $150 each ( with shipping) and that seems kind of expensive so i'm sticking to doing it up bondo way or fiberglass depending on what my friend suggests. I will post up pictures of panels soon so you can have a look at it. Thanks

Those are Acura Integra wheels. I like them, but I wouldn't pay $175 for them.

For 22+ year old Honda wheels, regular all-season tires, and no centercaps? $100
