A while ago I asked if anyone knew where the rev limiter is set. I was looking through my manual and I found out the ecu cuts fuel to the engine past 6600 rpm.

So there you go, the stock rev limiter is set at 6600rpm.

That's why we need VTEC...rev limiter is somewhere between 7500-8K RPM.

the question i have why would you want to rev your car that high.
6500rmp in high enough.

I don't know if thats also for carbs. I know my manual says the ecu cuts off fuel to the engine past 6600 rpm.

Theres power up there if you tune your engine for it. Thats the only reason you would want to rev past that.

Rev limiter's are to protect a engine from being damaged, why would honda not protect them both equally, doesn't make any sense not to.

i know... but i am sayin i can rev the shit out of my car and fi guys cant. i am sayin that is because the fuel injection has a rev limiter.

You may be leaning out even though the car is still running.

The efi is almost instant shut down because they don't have a fuel bowl like carbs do... even with the pump shut off the float bowl has enough fuel to last for a while depending on the rpms.

and it's nice not having a stock rev limiter, but I was planing on getting an MSD box with the rev limit adjustment... I've sliped past my 7.5k redline a few times too many.

So your saying that carbs can rev and take off at any rpm? (I'm not too familiar with carbs yet)

the stock carb doesn't flow enough at 7,000... if you look at the max HP... it's at 5,500 rpm.
That probrably means the engine isn't getting any more air/fuel in and exhaust out past 5,500, the only thing high reving would do is add rotational momentum so when you drop to the next gear it will be closer the 5,500 where you get the most power.

oh wait you have the weber.... :D
get a cam... get openloops cam... the one on the white car.

the stock fuel pump is "supposed" to cut at 6600 RPM on carbed cars but I dunno about that one

i have a few cams lyin round. i have a lxi cam and a lude cam. one will be sent to colt to be fixed up. and when they say re ground, how does that work? do they add material to the cam... or do they not give more lift? just more duration?

the grind it... not the greatest of way to make power but it heps.

if you go all out find a blank cam.

you could also ask for a hard weld... there is a carbureted racing cam that is a hard weld... not sure who made it though... and I think it was for the SOHC civic but it can be done to our cam as well, it will just have to be a custom order.

new valve springs are needed with that cam though.
