Hey, I'm new to the site, but not to Hondas. I've owned a 94 prelude with Frankenstein h22/h23 an 07 si (recently totalled by an f350) and a 98 Ek currently being worked on.

My uncle has an 89 Accord that is running (Not 100% on the model), he just told me tonight he wanted to give me the car since he knows I love my Hondas.

I mainly go autocrossing, and wanted to turn the free accord into an autox beast. I have heard many mixed opinions on motor mounts for this car, but I have found some here at innovativemounts.com

I know innovative is legit, I have used their mounts before, my question is I have not seen many people swap in anything at all into the accord. Is this just personal preference or will I have a lot to run into even with the mounts?

I do not have to worry about emissions, I am just wondering if I get these mounts can I just drop in a full b18c (possibly type r) full swap into here.

I have used the search, most of the info I have found is atleast 3 or more years old I was just wondering if anything has changed?

Thank you in advance for any information...any to all the old school Honda gods that probably lurk around here :bowrofl:

the mounts just recently came onto the market in the last few years... and due to some drama with said mounts most people who were interested in them are now out a fair amount of $$ and possibly never want to think about motor mounts ever again, so there hasn't been a lot of swaps

it would definitely be cool to start seeing more swaps though.. it's funny that until now newbies asking about swaps were told it's almost impossible due to lack of parts

I see, I kept reading how impossible this swap was, then I see the mounts so I was confused.

So it's safe to say that these mounts have issues?

Why is it so hard to make mounts for this thing? I'll go custom from a shop if I have to, I was just really wanting to do this like all my other swaps.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Welcome!

Search "Legend Master" he has done the swap. currently working on it to bring it back on the road. He has a lot of good info to help you find the parts you'll need for the swap.

If you have the Benji's and time to do it yourself, go for it. if not then money talks in this world .

Benjis, yes. Time, yes. Patience, ummmm....

Haha, I used to have to go part digging. Now though, I normally just buy the mounts/full swap needed and do it myself. Even though its usually pricier, I get everything I need in one shipment and can just sit down and zone out in the swap.

If I am gonna have to go from junkyard to junkyard collecting random parts for this to be accomplished I might rethink it.

Thanks again for the replies, I just checked out Legend Master and sent him a pm.

Yeah he drove off with a scratch on his front bumper, and left me with over 22k in damages. I'm still waiting on my settlement with this guy and his construction company (Company Truck).

Car had I/H/E, skunk2 suspension, and flashpro....she will be missed.

So in meantime I have been building up my ek (98 sedan w/moonroof! haha)

Always wanted to build an ef body style...and def. will as soon as I figure all this out.

The issue wasn't the mounts, but a member organizing a group buy and disappearing with the money. The mounts should be just fine. :)

I have not personally used the innovative mounts, but some of the threads on here suggest that they are very similar to the PRI (place racing incorporated). The most trouble I had with the swap in the 12k miles I drove it, was with the axles. I trashed a couple trying to get the right combination, this (http://www.3geez.com/forum/showthread.php?t=49155) thread will tell you everything about the basics. I can't guarantee that the innovative mounts will work with the same shift rod, or that the axle setup will fit either. Everything else should match up the same. I am currently rebuilding the car right now due to the last frame being wrecked from behind. This (http://www.3geez.com/forum/showthread.php?t=72811&page=1) is the build thread for the new swap, and my biggest problem has been wiring between the 86 accord, and the 88. That is currently being work on by a local shop (Revolution Motorsport).

Thank you very much for the prompt replies everyone, very helpful.

Legend_Master, thank you very much for pointing me in the right direction. I see your main troubles with the ls/vtec swap was with the axles and the wiring.

I don't mind any wiring as I have wired up many diff harness combos before, the axles have me a little worried right now though...

Is it just issues in fitting them in there? I was really looking forward to dropping in anything really...whether b-series, k-series, or even maybe an f20c?!@$

Either way, I read through the two given threads, did the axle issue ever get solved? How much custom fab will I have to do to make them fit?

I searched for the answers in the thread but it's a little difficult searching through all of them. I tried to find every post you made and read it thoroughly.

Again, thank you for all the help guys I really do appreciate it, I have been on these forums for less than a full day. All ready though, I am starting to warm up to this place...I haven't gotten a single person bashing me for asking a question yet so that is always a good start..

Thanks!! :bowrofl: you guys are the shit!

No the biggest problem was finding the proper combination to actually work with the swap. Below is what I ended up using. After figuring out this combination, it was all plug and play. As far as swapping anything besides the B-series, I don't know what to tell you about anything in regards to that.

Passenger Axle: 87-89 Acura Integra Passenger Side Axle (A little long, but it works)
Drivers Axle: The center shaft of the axle comes from the passenger side of the 86-89 accord. The ends (parts that connect to the hub, and to the transmission) are from an 88-91 Integra. This axle was put together for me by a professional axle shop, almost any axle repair place should be able to do it for you.

Thank you so much for all the information, I felt like my head was going to explode with all the contradictions. I feel like I can go in the right direction now with this swap.

I will try to post some pics up once I get this thing rolling.
