it came with no throttle body or a distributor. no flywheel but when i have been reading on here im going to want to use my on my ES3(right:confused:)
so now what different types of throttle body's can i or should i use since i have to but one anyways.
as far as the distributor well 2genguy you might have to help me out with the megajolt set up.
also i have a question about manual steering. is the only thing i need is the manual steering rack or is there more to it then just that.

LOTS of throttle bodies work. Pretty much any B series and a few D-series throttles will fit on that manifold no problem.

Since you're keeping the ES wiring harness, you should be just fine bolting your ES distributor right onto it. Use your ES flywheel/clutch/transmission, all should bolt onto the A20.
If you're using all the stock components, don't bother with the MegaJolt. I'm not sure if the stock ECU would freak out not having a distributor there... There's probably going to be a bunch of little things that won't connect up right. Be prepared to do a little wiring. Might pick up an 88 Prelude service manual, and the 85 Accord manual in case you run into an unknown component and need to figure out where it goes or connects. If you want some help again, I can come up.
Also, really random running into you up in Auburn, but I guess you live just right there. So, it's probably not that weird. Just good timing. :)

Could you use your current intake manifold?

im hoping to use it and just put on a new throttle body.
i just don't know how big to go.

The ES intake manifold will not swap to the A20. The ES head uses circular ports, while the A20 uses the oval ports. This is the only caveat with this engine swap. The oval ports are way bigger and can flow more to the valves, hence the extra 20hp.

Ah this sucks. I just checked the parts diagram and the ports are indeed rounder :(
I was asking this because the easiest route would be to use the ES wiring harness and use an 86-87 EFI computer. It can still be done tough but I'd use an 86-87 Intake mani.

i thought you meant on the a20.
I might just buy this throttle body off this guy

i was looking at my ES wiring harness and the one on the a20 and they are almost the identical.
so does anyone know about power steering to manual steering? is it just buy a manual rack and install?

I've got a sweetheart motor with 160KM on it, it's a BT that I got years ago when I was gonna A20 swap my car. It came with the entire wiring harness and computer. Shame you had to deal with this, I woulda given you that motor for what I paid for it.

It's in Castlegar BC, inside a garage. Covered in dust and likely beer cans, but otherwise should be flawless.

they ended up by giving me a BT. only thing i need is the throttle body. i bought one off an 89 accord but its doesn't match up to the BT intake. so i might just go get the intake mani off the 89 at the yard.

I've also got both a BT intake manifold complete as well as a complete dual runner intake. Just so you know, see what the junkyard says. I'd prefer to get rid of the A20A3 dual runner intake. Has injectors, everything.

I was at pick n pull and found a TB.
I changed the water pump, oil pump seal, oil pan seal, timing belt, valve cover seal and i still need to clean it before it goes in =>.
so its pretty much ready to be put in. I'm planing on taking my ES motor out on Saturday hopefully Washington weather is nice to me.

Nice work! How fast is it now?
Looks like you have some fun cars sitting around there in addition to the Accord.

Glad you got it running man! So what did you have to do to fix the sputtering?
Also as far as the heater goes, just turn the heat on in the car, leave the radiator cap off, let the car warm up and just top up the radiator. You can also bleed it out via the bleeder valve once you get some coolant circulation.

the sputtering was some bad plugs i used a pair i have laying around so they were bad i put new ones in and it worked..
ill try that today.

what the hell was that stupid thing on the back of the manifold? the one with all the coolant lines running to it?

Wasn't that an IACV of some sort? So I take it you have no high idle when cold? You just adjust the cable and you're good to go? Pretty sweet! Does it throw a code though?
Christofur
06-03-2011, 01:39 AM
Yes it was an IACV it never really worked right always had an idle bounce when its warming up or even when i was driving for awhile. i tried to bleed the coolant system so many times and still did it. i really didn't feel like buy a new IACV for 80 bucks so i was like fuck it its getting deleted. idk about the code parts since my EGR valve doesn't have vacuum to it so that is throwing a code.
i haven't checked yet to see if there's a different one.
i don't have a high idle on cold start just have to hold my foot on the gas for a min. or two doesn't bother me really i didn't have to change the cable any. i was more annoyed with the idle always changing.
maybe once winter hits again ill go buy a new IACV.
