Needs new gearbox, gonna tint windows also :) I sprayed chrome grill black and added roof racks and 16" Alloys and '88 Prelude Steering wheel. Would love to have full leather interior but hard to find (that brown velvet is horrid hahaha). Amazingly enough i put some anti-slip fluid in the transmission after flushing it twice and using Honda ATF, its actually a lot better.

Yea hard to find 5spd thou, also big job? i dont really mind the auto :kekeke: she goes hard being 2.0SI, even my 1.8l vigor a18a went good for a carby auto.

Isnt a manual conversion a big job? do u need to change the computers etc? Actually im thinkin of if you changed the motor from A20 to B20 you would.

its not that big of a job to convert from auto to manual with these things.
you dont need the manual ecu, there is just different mapping between the auto and manual ecu.
i ran with the auto ecu and it was fine.
the main things you really need apart from the obvious,gearbox,flywheel and clutch,pedal box and shifter are the right drive shafts.
the passengers side one is the same from memory, but the drivers side one, you need the whole manual shaft. the auto and manual intermediate shaft support that bolts to the back of the block is different.
but with the age and rarity of b20a accord manual boxes in new zealand, you can end up paying lots unless you know the right people or are a complete tin arse, like matt or aaron.

i agree, all you need is the pedals shifter gearbox clutch cable and the half shaft for the gearbox (may have forgotten something simple) but yeah probably easier than putting another auto on haha

Ive seen 3 different 5spd F1 Racing Accords on TM best one was 1 owner 150,000ks in Hamilton i think only $1500 ono but i didnt have the cash at the time and it sold quickly.
I got a mint motor and auto from PaP for my vigor but sold it as hated having a carby, was a nice car thou lookin back at it the body was way better than i got now!.

I decided not to get it as the guy new nothing about the car! and with all the effort involved in fitting it i wouldn't be very pleased to say the least if it was the same if not worse! ill wait till it shits itself then worry about it :lol:

apparently the only difference between b20a & a20a automatic gearboxes is the bell housing, if you know how to swap those, you can use a a20 gearbox (Y)

I don't know how to pull auto boxes apart, i usually use a hammer and axe lol

Honda's autos tend to have a good feel. They downshift when you need them to, they transfer power well and are generally pretty snappy. They aren't like some autos I've driven where you have to beat the car with a club to get it to downshift. Nor are they like others that can't get any power to the ground because it all gets sucked up by the torque converter. If you have to have an auto, a Honda auto is not a bad one to have.

Agreed i only buy Honda Autos, my mate had a 1988 Corona GLXI auto and what a piece of shit that was :eek: 2.0Inj felt like 1600carb compared to my SI and the auto was icky and heavy! He got slammed when he drove my car after me raving on about how the old Honda's were better than most other 80's cars, dont see many if any Corollas or Coronas with Cruise control or Climate air or any other features for that fact.

The front bumper i got from PaP also 2months ago because mine didnt have that little black lip at the bottom and was flakin a bit, hard to tell by photos as i use ph camera. Shes come a long way im getting there slowly.

When i brought the car i was shocked to see a new air filter in it! haha the oil was old and the radiator was full of clean water - later found it had a small leak from the thermo gasket, had changed the oil and flushed the radiator and it dosent use a drop of either or smoke, pretty good for 234,000k's!
The auto my mate reckons has been replaced before! so thats 2 useless autos in its life time it had hardly any ATF when we checked it, after flushing it best we could it was 100% better for like 15mins then slip, slop, slap hahaha

you dont need the solenoids leave them unplugged and pull the auto controller out from under your drivers seat and throw it away too. the 85-87 auto boxes are more relaible cause they dont have the silly clog up solenoids

Is there any way of narrowing down if its the Torque or just the gearbox thats at fault? How come when u put new fluid in the trans it drives like new for ten minutes then slips again, mate said cause the fluids hot? They shoulda kept making Hondamatic auto's i never had a prob with them :lol:

It revs up "slips between 2nd and third mainly.... as if u were driving a manual and changed gears pushing in the clutch but not taken your foot off accelerator! my mate said put some L plates on the window hahahaha jerk
Worse when climbing a hill but sometimes it dosent play up at all and other times it slips all the time, weird thou cause if you Cain the arse off it it dosent slip.

Weird how the majority full stop are white! PaP was full of white ones all rusted out bad, there was a charcoal 1 with a Mugen spoiler on the back but it was munted and rusted on. One color i cant stand is that Champagne pinkish - just nasty! I quite like them in Silver to be honest.
Me thinks PaP is drying up now dosent seem to be as many there like there was 1yr ago i wouldnt even try Strong for Honda they are a pack of twats, no customer service skills and no knowledge, when i enquired on a auto for a 2.0 SI they asked me if it was carb or inject! :kekeke:

The revving between 2 & 3 sounds like a problem in the 2-3 shift valve. Either there is some debris in there or the valve is scored up. I'm not sure what the grinding going into park is, but I would take your torque converter into a tranny shop and have it rebuilt if I was going to the trouble of pulling it out. Even if it's good, it's probably full of filings from the blown up trans you're driving.

ive never seen a manual 86-87 in white. but all the white 88-89s i have bought were manual (thats why i bought them i dont buy autos lol), all the manual 86-87 ones were all grey ive seen

converting to 5 speed would be cheaper in the end cause you get to change gears when you wont and the box wont fuck out unless you abuse it

Found some fog lights but car has no switch or wiring? i got the switch assuming the car would have all the wiring from factory even thou the lights were optional?

theres wiring in the body loom for the fogs, u just need the switch and fusebox loom and the plug in loom that goes in the sumper

Cheers :) annyoing enough i also need a bracket for one of the fogs, these were in the boot of the car and only one had a bracket attached i thought they would just bolt on like i did with my Vigor before.
Too wet at PaP atm, got a spoiler with stoplight and some mint Rola Racks, cant wait to get those ugly racks off there are cheap nasty and too high.
The car was a "Import edition from america accord with a gold badge in the steering wheel so i flogged it hahaha :D

Was glad to get the rola racks on much better looking then the other racks i had on there, was on $11-set at PaP for them - Luckily enough a mate had an old key for unlocking them then we smashed the old rivets throu the Nissan's roof, they were on a Primera.
Spoiler was $27 - Not bad really.

they are pretty easy once you get the big axle nut off. i have a spare set of brackets somewhere for the facelift yellow fogs.
