its to help air flow through instead of getting trapped in the cover.

i dont think its a significant mod but can look cool if done right.

more info rendon i really like the look of this lip do you think one could be modified to fit the rear as well

Lol the rear bumper been like that for awhile since 04 I hate it now but I
Repainting the car an I have a 88 bumper with lip. You can use a 94 accord rear lip an pretty much fits. You have to screw it on.

I didn't notice much on the rear bumper I did it when I was a youngster . Lol .

Mk3 body

I know nothing about vdubs other then bugs, what would that translate to, is that a body style or a particular vdub, we have a german junkyard here which is why I ask

Thank's for clearing that up for us non vdub guys.

I'm interested in making something work for a rear lip so I'll have to check some stuff out next time I'm at the yard.

MK3's are the 93-98ish Golfs and Jettas. Both the Golf and Jetta share the same front end parts.

87roach, Pickapart in Chiliwack has a bunch of MK3's and 5th gen Accords right now with the lips intact if you plan on coming down some time soon. They usually charge $20-25 for lips (sometimes much less if you get someone nice). I can confirm the 5th gen rear lip will work on the 3rd gen rear bumper with slight mods to the corners (I did a mock up but didn't finish installing it).

sorry for the late reply bro. there like 93ish as Yk86 said. It barely fits the 86-87. So i dont think it would work for a 88-89 yet idk someone would have to try

never mind it's a golf

LOL....fail i didnt see this

yeah i remember back then when i first got a 3gee the whole "mesh" thing was popular.. i remember seeing mush cut to size for the front bumpers.. probably was someone here on 3geez selling them

its to help air flow through instead of getting trapped in the cover.

Just to get this out there; that is not true.

when it was done back then,a lot of people thought it would do that, it's like the air flowing over a truck bed, but upside down, everyone thought those mesh gates would help, but they did the opposite, the air under the car trapped by the rear bumper forms a bubble which makes the air traveling under it less turbulent ,with the mesh it forms vortexes between the air traveling through the screen and the air traveling under the car

yeah a low car will give you better mpgs than the holes in the rear cover
