View Full Version : "black again" molding treatment

I've found that this "Black Again" molding & trim revitalizer stuff works great on my 3G! You just easily wipe on this clear liquid, and let the sun's UV rays cure it. I did all my black moldings all around, and it looks like new. Really. :)

I did make a mistake by not "curing" it in the sun before driving it on my dusty road. The dust coated it, and I have had to reapply it after easily washing the dirt off.

I have seen many a 3G with chalky looking molding that could sure use this stuff. Sure beats prepping & painting it. :bow:

i was gona ask you if you worked for the company untill i saw that ... .. i bet the car looks much better with the moldin black again..mine is faded and it makes the car look bad

Sorry, but I don't have before or after pics. I wish I had a nice digital camera.

The stuff only costs $5-6 bucks if I remember correctly. :deal:

I got it at GIJOES, which is an outdoor/auto store here in the NW. It should be in other auto stores also. If you do a google search for "black again", there are online sources.

i have used a similar product (mothers Back to Black) and it works great for about a week than it fades back to grey, so let us know how it looks in about 2 weeks

It has been at least a couple of months since I put it on. It is garage parked for the most part. Can't vouch for how it would do in direct sun. Made the mud flaps look good too.

Has anybody tried this stuff?

Do a web search. I found a couple of online places right off the bat that sell it for $7.95.

I used "Back to Black" and found that it only lasted a week or two, also. I painted my moldings, bumper strips, and some of the window trim, but I could try this on the mud flaps.

sorry, but i thought the "back to black" stuff was for rubber (tires) not plastic trim... :confused: true?

Still looks good. Can't vouch for "permanent". It's an alternative to painting.

nope it says on the bottle "exterior bumper and trim care"

Thanks dj99. Maybe I didn't mean permanent, but long lasting. I don't care enough to paint my molding, but it would look much better with the trim black again. I'll see if I can track some of that stuff down and give it a try.

dude, just use armor all protectant stuff. i use that all over my car (dash, side rails, steering wheel, and all the vinal and trim things in the car).

well have u ever tried "Son of a Gun" made by STP? i have found that it works betten than armor all. that is my favorite for interior stuff black tirm and tires. works for me.
