Stop making me relive how little I've done to my car. Also, what's the significance of "MXL"?
2.0 = A20A (cause they normally come with a A18A), M = Vigor (Accord would be E, and Accords with fixed headlights would be G, so it goes EXL, GXL, MXL, etc..), XL is basically just a LX like your guys cars.
engine bay is now cleaned

funny how it says ca5 number 30 yet there were 2348952 ca5 accords made before it in prefacelift, i dunno how that works to be honest. maybe that is JDM only as a20a motors only came in japan in facelift cars. and edm/usdm ca5's have their own chassis number thats different.
good to see the POS motors out. lol your fuel line holes tidier than mine!
lol my last efi line i hammered heaps of holes with nails and bashed it out, that was hory as fuck. i assume that these chassis numbers are specific to jdm cars. i've never seen a factory prefacelift ca5 jdm accord before. this car must be a 87 unless they didn't start making the ca5s till 88
Do u sell these cars? u must go thru alot of them, your yard is the like the Dream version of Pick a part LOL!

cool, so tell me more about this fire you speak of
well i was looking to see if fuel was actually coming up through the fuel rail, so i loosened the nut on the rail and turned the key on and sure enough fuel everywhere, i bolted the line back on then tried to start the car and there must have been a spark through the leads or something cause the whole motor caught on fire lol
todays update: i installed all the brakes stuff and half ass bled them, they do not operate. maybe i failed when installing calipers or something. i'll have to look into it. went to take the car for a little blat but as soon as i went for 2nd gear all i got was lots of back firing and loud bangs. the rotor that aaron gave me had snapped inside the dizzy, however the fuck that happens. also the spark plugs that I bought brand new last year where smoking when i was testing for spark :wtf:
well I installed my air horns (needs to be wired up still), and some fog light brackets & the drivers side guard.
http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/2005/img2097medium.jpg
a honda just isn't right without one of these
http://img840.imageshack.us/img840/9104/img2094medium.jpg
next I hope to have all the body panels on, then I can start with the interior. I'm gonna paint one of my dashboards black since I don't have any factory black dashboards
wired up my horns and installed a front bumper and lights and stuff

it was a 2g lude and my mates bought it :)
anyways back to my car.. i bled the brakes properly today, they feel like shit. need a slightly bigger booster. engine now runs without error codes, but it's gone back to its subaru ways. what a cunt. i installed all my audio though and some more interior. i really wish i knew my motor runs so rough though :(
I swapped in a stock booster & adjusted it all the way so the pedal will be closer to the floor. brakes work better now, they at least lock up, and stops in a straight line, which is good. they could probably do with a re-bleed though since they still feel a little soft.
engine still running like shit for some unknown reason
so i mixed up a lot of plugs & leads, swapped the coil and sanded the rotor, the car doesnt run like a suby now MEAN jsut a little misfire every now and then. I can live with that. gonna make up a blower > heater duct thing cause i lost mine & foggy windows suck
car is fully road worthy now YAY

I picked up a grey CA SI 4years back for $200 had really bad paint fade and clear was all peeling and the tranny was buggered no suprise there haha, but do agree its the best colour for these cars and less chance of rust! and it had elec sunroof wish i was in car restoration mode back then and not sold it oh well.
oh yeah that's another good things about the grey ones is they rust less lol. my white ones where pretty bad. what's yours like for rust?
i made a a/c delete till i can find my oem one.

Mine looks pretty tidy but has had alot of "work" done by previous owner most of it hidden, i replaced 2 doors that was the worst part for me.
Unless its had one owner and lived in a garage Honda's die so young ;)
lol yep. my first grey one was mint & garage kept by an old lady up until I bought it. pitty i ruined that car :(

indeed. i have exclusive door panels & carpet installed (except for the rear, haven't done that yet) just missing some little bits and pieces for the interior but it's mostly complete lol.
I took the car for a decent drive today, it really sucks at cruising smoothly & it feels underpowered compared to a normal b20a. I don't know why it's running the way it is

looks good! is your motor as fast as mine yet??
no it's pathetic atm. almost as slow as a a20a. if it's not cold tomorrow i'm gonna put the stock intake manifold back on and see if i get some power back
here's a quick (or rather slow & disappointing) 0-100 kph run. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8EJ_nYapOU
i put the stock manifold back on and it's way more torquey down low. but it still doesn't feel as fast as it should be. it's still doing its stupid shudder at cruise speeds too, that's really annoying. other than those 2 issues it's good
Haha i think my auto is about that fast all the time, still pretty good till ya tweak it.

lol haha nah i dont has any pics. another update though the car is being damn good on fuel. I ran it dry the other day then put 4.71 litres of 95 in, done around 60km (nana driving, around town) and it hasn't sputtered yet. im guessing thats somewhere over 13km/l sweeet. i also installed my flashing fog lights for a laugh cause i was bored

vigor rears look lame unless they have a spoiler, then they look awesome. anyways update time, i acquired another car that runs mint so i'm gonna swap out the dizzy, plugs & leads so mine can be all factory again. it also has all the little bits and pieces i want for my car that i've lost over the years
i swapped the leads and plugs from the other car into this one. this motor now runs flawlessly smooth, probably the smoothest drive train i've ever had. i'm happy. still lacking in the power department, but i don't really care lol

it's very close, i had to cut out the torque rod mount thing and bash some of that lip away from just under the chassis number. I also had to bash the frame rail a bit for the crank pulley to fit properly, and also the subframe that holds the steering rack. I didn't realize how big these motors where till it was in the engine bay

I took it for a drive today, left side axle binds like fuckery under load. i'll just chop some of the cv joint off till it works. that will do until I can get me a mid shaft from a 4g accord. drivers side axle works mint though, it's a EF civic axle with a 90 accord inner CV
power wise, I'm currently using a dohc f22b ecu (no vtax) and it's about as fast as a good running b20a. so it should go mint once i've wired up all the extra stuff and install the h22a ecu.

notch the stock crossmember (for the exhaust) and put that back on
install a heatshield between the exhaust and shifter cables
modify my passenger side cv joint
install teh dual core radiator
and get another rocker cover
sweet!

Is it functional now?
i do drive it yes, but it still needs a axle, exhaust heat shield & a rocker cover before i'd call it complete

Nice swap Matt!! And Im digging the yellow top valve cover lol
that wont be around for much longer, there should be another one on the way to me right now :)
also fixed the axle binding problem, i removed both clips on each end of the axle so i could move the cv joint & bearing holder as far back on the axle as they can go, on the outer end i welded it to the cv joint, on the inner end i just slid the bearing holder thing as far back as it would go. hory as, but is working good for now lol. now i can replace the upper & lower ball joints on that side that have play in them now lol

I haven't checked this build thread in a long long time... Looking good! that h22 looks huge in there.
it is indeed a big motor. i have a video of the car with it running shitty as, probably about as quick as a a20a lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgmHFc2F0zs
i'll probably weigh the car sometime in the near future. last time i weighed the car it was 1240kg, can't remember what was all in the car though

nah, its a ways off yet.
after a few more hold ups ( wife having baby, house needing painting etc etc)
i finished all the body work on the shell in the weekend , and if weather is good this weekend i'll be priming it and blowing colour on at easter.
am tossing up an engine rebuild for the accord or a new motor bike as a qualification pressie in a few months when i finish my apprenticeship.

AccordB20A
03-19-2012, 08:38 PM
dumb.
au videos bro
vids when it's running better & vtec is working. hopefully it's EGR related why it's not working, or my non-matching knock sensor is making the ecu retard the timing. not something major fail i hope.
I still need to fix this
http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/5479/img0078mediumj.jpg
I think this motor has passed it's best-before date lol
