I got to hear my 3Gee run the other day, got me stoked about driving it again. Decided I would start working on my radio project I have had on my mind. My whole goal was to go along with the theme of making the car look rather stock (also prevent people wanting to steal my radio).

What I have designed is a stock looking radio that plugs into the factory harness. It will be capable of syncing with any bluetooth device, or connecting with any iDevice (iPod, iPhone, iPad) with a cable that is also capable of charging the device. There also happens to be a USB port on the amp that allows for charging, that I may hook up as an aux charging port. Also the switch on the front will allow for volume control.

great idea, didn't think there would be much room, inside the stock head units , but after you guy them i guess they do. it would be awesome if you could get the display working or modify it so it would really look almost 100% original. i wanna see it installed now lol

I was thinking about putting a small digital clock there to make it look stock, and still have a clock. May also try to figure out how to incorperate an fm radio in there somehow.

thats a really slick deal there.

i'd still like a cassette player because i have one of those converters to plug into the tape player so i can plug my zune or phone into the stereo and not have to shuffle CD's around.

You could actually use anything that plugs into an RCA jack, so for the phone or zune you could get an RCA to 3.5mm jack and it would work the same.

Cleaned up the front to make it look as stock as possible. Only active button at the present moment is the "tone" knob that actually controls the volume.

Cleaned up the internals.

Will loom the rest of the wiring once I have tested the unit in a car. There was no ACC on the amp, so I am not entirely sure how to hook it up to the power. The cable for the ipod is external, but I will move it to the inside of the unit once I purchase one of these (http://www.amazon.com/Sprint-Bluetooth-Receiver-Connector-Speakers/dp/B003V1619E/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top). Then the device will be bluetooth compatible.

So the amp was junk, had to scrap that one. I used a full size amp under the seat to solve the problem. I am getting some distortion, but that is coming from the wire I am using to connect the Bluetooth dongle to the amp. I'm gonna have to get something to help clean the noise up a little.

Thanks man, It's actually rather simple if you know how to hook up an amp.

Sadly no, you have to loose all the regular radio internals if you want ot use the volume controls on the radio. If you are not worried about having the hard radio volume controls, you could easily maintain the AM/FM radio and and have this. I am trying to figure out how to use the antenna port have both the radio, and this setup working on the same volume controls.

Actually looks like this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HONDA-CIVIC-1974-2005-RADIO-RCA-AUX-INPUT-ADAPTER-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQitemZ390263385486#ht_2050wt_856 )might work for exactly what you would like to do.
