this is the piece that will form the base for the boot, it still needs finishing up as I was rough fitting it, this does the same thing as the bottom of the rubber boot, and fits over the steel of the handle itself, I need to make a couple of brackets to anchor it to the handle, the boot goes over the handle and the console cover isn't directly connected to it, I was going to make the leather boot myself, but a friend of mine is offering to make it for me

thats my 1901 three headed knurling tool, instead of doing it strictly by hand like I usually do, I set it up with the lowest feed speed possible and a very low RPM on the lathe, and let the machine feed it, it took about 30 minutes to do that knurl

I can probably make you one, can you find me a used Ebrake handle to work on? i can't take this one apart to measure anything, and it's been years since I made the button , but I can put one together with a parts piece, what are you looking for in a shifter handle?

Ok I'm almost done with the boot, lots of tiny stitches later, I have to make the bezel for the boot, then it slides down the handle, once I put the bezel on, then I can glue the leather to the bottom plate. the plate attaches with a couple of brackets, directly to the E brake arm itself

this is the master pattern, basically you cover it with masking tape, then split the tape with a razor blade, and lay it out on paper, anything that doesn't lay flat, gets split, this becomes your pattern for the material

pardon the car being so dirty, it's a project of course, especially the center section over the ebrake, it's going to be disassembled and repainted soon, the center console is just sitting in here for now, so i can check clearance,

I think you watched knightrider way too many times lost. Most people try eliminate all those switches. It looks like you have a switch to control another switch

actually i need to wrap the center section with the mirror switch, that lets me control most of the radio functions with one finger, everything is functional and serves a purpose, it controls an swi-x unit, that duplicates the radio remote functions, the green switches will be replaced with black ones, one is radio mute, and one is function
