today since my fiances out of town and i had blood drawn i decided to do something calm and constructive and make my own strut bar, or begin to at least. i have already made the base outlines from paper and copied it over to wood to give me a stffer template. i havent cut it yet but the paper template fits. so next on the agenda is to get the angles made for the bar mounts. the 1st prototype will be wood since i have wood to waste and not metal. after the wood version is done i wil copy it to steel and aluminum for the final product... so far the plan is 1/8"steel for the bases and bar mounts with an aluminum bar (thick aluminum) or i may just fab the whole bar from steel. anybody wana modify my sources list feel free to tell me what metals would be best for weight reduction while keeping the price down. if all goes well this should be cheap bar that i could end up selling to people

or... make a how to write up and share with everyone
or both

Idk why but my computer put itself in a kind of protection mode recently and I can't seem to reboot it. I have sent the pic of the base to my email so if you could pm me your email you could have the pic and post it for me if you had time.

computer fixed for now... so here it is

Well is that wood? Why not just make dc sport mounts replicas?

wish i hada working dremel... mine got ruined when our shed washed away.

yes its wood, im using wood to make all my mock up stuff then when everythings right im copying it to metal. i have tons of wood to screw up with but im scarse on metal. i'd make a dc replica if i had the original to begin with. i pm'd some guy who says he has one for 100 but he hasnt replied. and hes new so im kinda iffy about buying from him. but yea if i could get my hands on a set i could replicate them perfectly with 3 months. maybe longer if theres some weird stuff in the process but u get the idea.

I am dont worry. I got my hands on a hole cutter for the center today so lll be cutting Tomoro and making the first fit. Then that'll get transferred to metal and I'll progress from there.

ok i got the base finished :D i cut the center out and got the three tabs on the side done. now it fits but the wood is wwaaayyyy to thick. but nonetheless its done and mocked up and ready to be transfered to metal. but heres a question for you guys or even someone with a strut bar. how thick should i make the base itself? and should i use steel like i said or something else?

1/8" steel would be fine i'm sure.

it's not just the thickness but the type of steel is also important
