Awesome to see some new progress from you man. You're doing exactly what I'd like to do to my hatch(except just a different colour).

My vote was for the midnight, it would be sexy.

Thanks bro. Yeah its about time I did something about my crapy paint. I've decided to go with Adriatic blue pearl even though I love black I think a new look like this would be sex;)

I was considering on shaving my roof rails as i plan to do the antenna for sure. Quick question do the doors have a plug to disconnect the door or do you have to feed the harness through?

Looks good keep up the progress. Im not far behind as my car is stripped down and the engine bay is in the prep stage. But i want to jamb out the doors and engine bay at the same time so i can put the motor back in.

Yeah man unfortunatly there is no quick connection to disconect I had to feed the harness out first...but wasn't as hard as I thought just a few clips and its out.

wow that does look amazing. Ive always thought yours is the best hatch on here with all the custom work. Well second to guyuanabo's hatch. Nice prep work as well. If you were to rate how hard it was to delete the drain rails. Granted it welding and all but was it hard to fit the steel and all that

Thank you:thumbup: Well as far as the drain rails go..they were alittle dificult to fit because i had to cut trim grind the metal pieces to fit decently in there..but its more time consuming than hard bro. and the welding wasnt done by me i asked around at 5 bodyshops and they were all too chicken to do it even if i had the metal pieces already cut. so i went to my eshaust guys shop and he did an amazing job none of the sheet metal warped:)

That's the only way to do it right. I've painted a lot of small things in front of my garage and not even 2 min after I finish there's a bug or something else stuck to it (it"s like there attracted). That paint look BOMB!!!, it will look nice on the hatch. I think you should paint the whole hood the new color.

Doing same colour bumpers or black?

06-13-2011, 10:39 PM
Wasn't that bumper for sale?
yes it was but since my mold broke ive decided to keep the second one i have to make a new and better one out of that.

I was going to ask what the reason was for prepping a stock bumper when you have the custom one you made..

Good question roach. Well as i was taking the custom bumper down from collecting a year of dust i realized i never finished the cracks that it had..there not that bad but requires fiberglass and resin wich i need to get..not to mention i have to smooth it out perfect as you can see. so i decided to use the stock for now since it was in pretty perfect condition.

im thinking of coloring the bumpers but at the same time im not sure if black bumpers would look good. i know they look sex on a white hatchie though thats for sure;)

Looking good your motivating me to get my car going but i need a few more things done before i can start sanding it down. My biggest dilemma is i want to use my xenon side skirts. But to do so i would have to mold them to the car which will eliminate removing the fenders to jamb out the door area.

But keep up the good work glad to see someone thats motivated!

Just a few random bushings for my red coupe. My lower control arm bushing in the rear was frozen to the bolt so i had to replace that. I have not tried to get body clips but its worth a shot as they carry a lot for our cars.

Here in the NE junkyards have crushed all possible donor cars as i called around and took a road trip to get parts last fall. Sadly i found only one coupe but the guy was an ass and didn't want to be bothered for small parts. I still need a few trim pieces but im working on that with other members here.

Well today was the bigggg day painted the body....but so much went wrong. let me start off by saying i spend allll of last night cleaning and preppin the car in the booth havent slept at all. so morning came and everything was ready and going smooth..cleaned my gun before mixing the paint and sure enough my gun starts leaking so i dissasembled it and stopped the leak so yay:D ready for the basecoat..first coat layed on nice, second coat my freakin gun started hattin and leaked:rocket:. it dropped in 2 spots which pissed me off..so i had no choice but to tape a small towel on the leak and move on so i did. then the strap on my mask broke finishing the last coat of base so more anger:chainsaw:lol. so i semi fixed it and moved on to the clear coat at this point i was sooo freakin exasted and the morning was getting hoooot as hell. so during the clear i accidentally ran a few spots, my gun was messing up, and my pants touched wet clear. But other than my horrible day im glad its done everything will be fixed durring wetsanding i hope. sorry for the long story lol..ill post up pics soon the sun was setting so i couldnt get the best pics.

Looks good i would like to see some close ups.....Nice work glad to see your done. I have a good idea on how much work you put in it. I have been stripping all the trim/glass/moldings off of my new coupe and it is very time consuming. I still new a few more trim pieces and clips for when it goes back together but i have time to figure that out.
