I won't post who, as that's his business, but I've been working on a weighted shift knob for someone here, and I thought I would post a few pictures, this is made from 1-3/4 round bar stock, and I've got it weighted with lead weight to 10 ounces, it weighs two ounces more then the spoon weighted knob. I still have to make the piece with the threads, it presses in the end and holds the lead weight in place. I forgot what a pain in the ass these are to make lol, if I had had a CNC machine, it would have been nothing, but this is all made the old fashioned way. the knurling tool I use is actually a hundred years old. I don't even think they make these knurl patterns anymore

That looks great lost. Im sure whoever gets it will be very happy with it. you had said you run the knurling tool at low speed so it has definition. Is it as sharp on the knurl pattern as it looks? Thats such a great uniform pattern, I could stare at it all day long. Nice rows,

I run the lathe at 30 rpm, and i run the feed at the highest speed on the low setting, which is pretty slow, the knurls are exactly like the picture. the nice thing about aluminum parts like this, is they develop a patina after a while, if you've ever seen custom parts made a long time ago, you'll know what I mean

i'm working on it, I might make some more, I just need to find a better way to do them, for example, I can pour one long weight in a piece of steel and cut it open, and into more weights, if they are a hit i will definitely consider making some more, i kind of have to shift from thinking one off into making some in a production run

I would want one either way, and I'm good to come up with the cash ;)

PM me if you decide not do a whole lot of them for sale..

Keep up the good work

looks great. If you could;d find a way to inscribe the shift pattern you could sell on rbay and make a ton selling as JDM.
