Hello everyone... Just picked up a 1989 LX-i Auto for $1000 a few weeks ago. It only has 142k miles on it, driven by an old man and fairly neglected. So far I've given it a coolant flush, new rear wheel cylinders, new brake master cylinder, brake fluid flush, oil change and filter, plugs, wires, cap and rotor, pcv valve, air filter, and also cleaned the IACV and adjusted the idle.

Still needs a new oil pan gasket, rack and pinion, drivers side CV axle, inner tie rods, and I have a hissing that I tracked down to be the FITV. Took me a while to find that... I assumed it was a vacuum leak. Will also be getting a tranny drain/fill (I heard it's not good to flush these cars' tranny's?) and I would love to get the A/C working again.

Other mods I have in mind are too paint some of the faded trim on the bumpers, replace the sealed beam headlights with some new ones w/ HIDs. Also gonna tint the windows, and when I need new tires... I will probably get some new rims.. maybe 17's? Would also like some different trunk lid lights/ tail lights as well, get rid of that orange maybe... dunno of a good place to get those yet.

Any suggestions/ advice and comments are welcome... and I will post a few pics as soon as I get 5 posts? They are on photobucket and I can't do links.

Welcome to the Forum!

Hella's or autopals head lamps are the way to go. as for the Hid kit may i suggest this onehttp://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/6000K-H4-Bi-Xenon-H4-High-Low-dual-beam-HID-XENON-KIT-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem2eb5c648dfQQitemZ20061 8166495QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccesso ries#ht_5291wt_1015

I have these one my car and they are way better than the other ones i have owned. the light is alot better.

So your looking at about 120 for the HID set up.

Thanks for all the welcomes guys. I have a lot to learn about these cars, and feel like I've already learned a lot by looking around. And no worries, I know all about using the search function, lol.

I know this site may not be as active as some forums, but I like that it is centered towards our specific cars.. and not all hondas.. or all generations of accords. Makes finding information much easier. See ya'll around.

I might have to do that. I actually bought my car pretty close to there in Costa Mesa. Mine isn't much to look at right now... needs a lot of work, lol.

And... As requested.. haha. I have since cleaned the interior.. the engine bay a little bit, took off all 4 mud flaps because I live in southern california and I don't need them. Also straightened out that front license plate.. dunno what the old man did there.

Overall she's in pretty good shape. No major dings, faded paint here and there, and pealing clear coat on the front bumper, and faded trim.

You would be amazed at what a black rattle can would do with that car . I prefer the stock Accord aluminum rims over the prelude ones / and if you look at one of hte pics it almost looked exactly like a prelude with the rear wing.

I rattle canned my trim and bumpers and it actually came out real nice..

Awsome car to start with... I wish i could find one like that ...
