Hi guys...I'm on a Honda Vigor (accord) with the A20A engine...

The other day I was wondering if any of you has seen the crash test video for our cars?

The only version I could find is the one on youtube

you tube.com /watch?v=qDEUdiarUgs (remove the spaces)

Doesnt look pretty good though. Anyone has other videos of that? 1 video doesnt seem reliable enough.

of course no one drives to crash. accidents happen accidentally and not planned. so it's good to know how our car performs in a crash.

That video is total fail. The door being off the car causes a major crumple zone that wouldn't normally be there, as the door plays a part in the cars' structural integrity.

Actually, our doors' crash bars are only there to provide side intrusion protection. They really aren't something that's going to make a huge difference in this sort of crash test. They'll just crumple out of the way.

What this video doesn't show is how bad some newer vehicles do in this same sort of test. For the era these cars were built, they are very safe. They don't compare to new models, but a new Civic has several hundred pounds on top of our Accords. I'm using the Civic for comparison because it's closer in size to a third gen than the current Accord.

hmmm from the website that @SkateK610 posted, our 3rd gen look quite good.

and yes vanilla sky, the current generation Civic are more similar to our accords. the weight is slightly heavier and the interior is similar in spaciousness.

but the thing in the video that scares me is the lack of hard zone for the passenger area. most cars nowadays stop crumpling just before the dashboard and the dashboard + steering + pedals will not move much.

That video will give you pause for sure. *Gulp*

on second thought though, is that a 3rd gen accord in that video? it really looks like a civic or a 2nd gen accord there. notice the small round signal light at the side right above the wheels?

any ideas?

Looks like an EDM spec 3g to me. Acts like one of those Chinese cars though.

Here's some more crash test data. More 4-5 star ratings.

I'm kinda skeptical with the 4-5 star ratings. Is it the same with today's 4-5 star rating of modern cars? or is 4-5 star of older days equals to 8-9 stars today.
