I might sound like a moron here, but why is this an "Si"? It's identical to our engines? What's the difference between this and an accord 2.0 ltr? :wtf:

the SI also have to do with the fuel injection cause the 2nd gen ludes did come with twin barrel twin carbs. Yep, two carbs. The engine looks identically the same. Its like having lx and lx-i. whats the difference? u know it.

For the lude, it can be also better shocks and coils, check it to see the engine number on the block on a 2nd gen lude.

I am sorry, they are supposed to be two, 3 barrel downdraft carbs. on a regular prelude.

on the Si. its different as u can see. with the efi. look at the compression ratio.

I am sorry, they are supposed to be two, 3 barrel downdraft carbs. on a regular prelude.still wrong... 2nd gen carb'd ludes had the same twin sidedrafts as the 3rd gens... i'll take a pic of my factory carbs on my 83 lude if you'd like...

Si stands for "Sport Injection". on older hondas, it pretty much meant that you got fuel injection instead of carburation... preludes didn't get an Si model until 86... then, the carburated model became known as an "S". 1989 was the last year a carburatuer induction system was offered on preludes...

Hey... I thought that on the Si models of the preludes, they have a slightly different shaped head for more torque - and compression -
Am I wrong in this thinkin?

The lude Si motor is the same thing that cam in the early 3g LX-i. The dual carb 2g lude actually has 3 carbs, provided that its a modle equiped with a cvcc head. There are 2 kehin cloned cv carbs that feed the main intake ports and a tiny little auxilary carb that feeds the cvcc system.

i am most familiar with the 3 carb system that PhydeauX described. i never knew that Si actually meant something.

well with the newer hondas, like the Civic, the "Si" name means that it has a Vtech engine.

yes, the website is wrong about the 3 barrel... it's a pair of 1 barrel carbs... 83 was the only year with a CVCC engine in the 2nd gens, 84 and up were not CVCC... i'll look for that third carb this afternoon, my 2g is CVCC
