thanks, dr. snooz, still der? I POSTED A Q DAM CAPs,,,a question in 1g bout my tranny. cant tell the diff. tween a 83 aN A81 TRANNY(OWNER DOESNT REMEMBER( CAPS1!!) sorry. EVerything i loo9k at these trannys is same, I'm stumped. And interchangers insist only another 81 from same configuration hatch will interchange. Just lucked out and found one near, but also the 83 trans and the salvager hasn,t a clue which came from which car.fun FUN fun.p.s. how do i get the smilies to jumpo on?

If I remember correctly, a trans from an '83 fit without any problem into my '82. The '82 drivetrain (engine, trans, suspension, etc.) was just like the '81 my mom had. I think you could do the swap without any problem but you never know if they decided one year to start using a different spline count for the drive axles or stuff like that. Bottom line, I can't think of any reason you couldn't do it.
