I've been moving this box around for a while now, trying to figure out the best place to mount it, and I finally ht on a solution, how about under the glovebox upside down? Now I know the manual says not to mount them this way, but I called a tech at MSD, and he assured me it would be just fine, since the box is on the interior, and not exposed to weather. I could mount it right side up on top of the plate, but it would interfere with the choke cable, I think it gets better airflow under the dash anyway. I'm going to make some spacer plates, raise the box about a quarter inch off of the plate, and install a computer fan over it, this will pull cool air over the box.
I had already reinforced the bar under the glovebox, for the bell crank for the choke cable. I'll put an additional bracket on the back of the plate, at the firewall.

I got more done, I raised the box on aluminum spacers, well actually lowered it, and did some mill work, I'll mount a computer fan on the side behind the glovebox, this will force some cool air through the channel under the box, this should help to keep it from overheating. when it's mounted you really don't see much of anything, it sits way up under the dash. this also gives me a place to mount some electronic racks up behind the dash

I was thinking of doing this too but I don't have access to all the cool machines like you do heh. I was wondering if the unit would "overheat" but the engine bay gets really freaking hot so I don't think it will be a problem in the cabin, the fan should help it's life span.
Good job.

it looks like it hits the power antenna motor under the dash, but that's going to be a simple fix, just a little grinding on the plate, not bad for guessing how long it would have to be, i thought i might have to shorten it. the soft touch rev control will fit on top behind the fan, i don't plan on adjusting it, once it's set, it's good to go, i do need to make a bridge over the fan on one end, this will hold the choke cable where it pulls on the bell crank
