I went ahead and made a front lip from aluminum angle stock. The lip was not hard to make, and I must say it did not come out too bad.

Let me know what you guy's think.

That actually turned out really damn good, nice work man.

It'll probably get really beat up but it being nice and smooth and one piece is slick!

Thanks man, yeah it's probably not for the low-lows. Its more for the cars that are not laying on the ground. If you were to see it in person it looks super clean and as a plus the cost was only about $20. You cant beat that!

$20? That's a great price!

It's 2" angle? Will you be leaving it or painting it? It's nice looking now and would be cool if you kept it that way but corrosion is the enemy. I'd love one of these with honda or 3geez cut out of the material.. that would be sweet haha.

I'm pretty sure thats a first but it turned out good. Also if anything happens to it, it will be cheap to replace.

yup, 2"x2"x8' angle, cut 3/4" off of one side length wise. Once that is done cut slits to form the light curves. Then cut a section out for the heavy curve.

To combat corrosion, all you have to do is clear coat it.

I like it the way it is...
The car is ready for paint , I just need to pick the color(s).

Honestly, the bondo/fiberglass I have seen used on some of the other lips wont last either. One good hit and their done. The teg lips are getting harder and harder to find, and one that does not need repair is almost impossible to find.

$20 plus 30-40 minutes and you are rolling.

The process you mentioned is pretty much what I gathered from the pictures and formed in my head.

I should do this while the bumper is off heh, then I'd have a replacement at hand instead of taking it off.. hmm

What are you thinking for colour(s) for the car??

This gets me thinking - dangerous. Use black vinyl cove base (look it up). Cut off the curved portion and you're good to go with adhesive or mechanical fasteners. Flexible, durable (heck, it's made for use in commercial buildings) and already black!

I'm editing this post. If you look for cove base (you can get it at Home Depot and Lowe's) it comes in a variety of colors, including gray and white. I am tempted to try it myself because it's really cheap.

Wow, this turned out really good. Size and shape look great. I would personally paint it to match the car when you do, but even as is it doesn't look bad. Cheap too.

Your #1 ! I'll take the textured look into consideration for sure.

I am surprised nobody asked about the little black box....

Since you asked. It's a Ram air box it fits right behind the fog light. I leave the cover in place on street and remove the cover at the strip.I'll post some pic's later if interested.

ahh, not bad, as you mentioned good for the drag strip IMO. However if you were planning more road racing / auto x i would suggest making another baffle on the other side and routing duct work to the brake area. IIRC FC / FD rx-7's have this as well as a few other cars out there. However i don't think that it would be that much of a potential gain unless you ride the helll outta the brakes

if it were in the brake area wouldn't it just heat soak?
