Hey guys, I've lurked on here for waayy too long and have learned a good bit from this place. Right now I'm working on my 4th 3rd gen, one of them being my girlfriends 89 lxi. My new one is a 88 DX coupe (unfortunately).. but it has potential for a daily driver and I didn't pay a dime for it.

Here is some pics, it's not much but it's a start. Enjoy :D

Quick back story on it, it was my brothers car, he drove the shit out of it and never maintained it at all...blew up the motor and just let it sit for a few months until I noticed it. Threw it on the trailor it to my place and tore in to it. Come to find out the engine still ran, just not very good. Fired it up and it ran perfect, not a knock or tick..the first 15 minutes..I cut it off and fired it back up and bam..rod knock and you can almost feel the bearing chirping and grinding in your ears.

After I got it the shop..I didn't waste any time on it, started tear down. My girl was too excited to help cuz both accords were parked next to eachother..she got me pics so I still love her.

So at this point the only option is to rip it out and start over..plus it gave me a good excuse to do a manual swap on it since I already have everything out.......The next day this is what it looks like :D

Also learned that theres a place down the road from my house that sells used motors, still cant find a manual trans tho..going junkyard hunting this weekend though!

yessir, my buddy has some random shop art lol. You should see the pictures on the wall above the hubcaps. '32 Model A coupe with a Chevy 350 stuffed in it..that was a trip to drive with no seat belts!

What I can't understand is, the replacement motor had been sitting in his shop for a while, with fresh oil and looked like brand new ngk plugs..not a trace of carbon on them. Anyone have an idea why it would be that way from a salvage yard?
